why? who would win out of these 2?

but the Daleks are pretty hardcore ... do you think that maybe cybermen are more of a fair challenge for the borg? or can they win this fight?

vs threads are usually frowned upon by the mods

(daleks would wipe the floor with the borg)

is vs thread bad because people can't control themselves or is there another reason?

also ... i thought most of the vs threads that were banned here were mainly either hardware or games arguments (ps3 vs xbox. mgs vs tetris or something)

wait .. so the borg had zero chance?? ... wow ... guess it's what's to be expected of a species that almost wiped out the timelords

Everything in Star Trek is a rip off from Doctor Who, anyway. Borg? Cybermen. BTDT.

Only Borg ships have weapons and while a Borg cube would probably wipe the floor with any dalek ship, Daleks themselves have weapons of energy and physical nature. I doubt a borg drone could even penetrate a dalek's armor if he was given a crowbar.

Daleks have been hovering for a while before RTD.

Also, while you are standing at the tops of the stairs congratulating yourself for having legs, the Dalek can just shoot you.

I'd say Daleks. The Borg were never that scary (they didn't even have guns, and wouldn't react to you until you went out of your way to get their attention), but both were severely nerfed later on, the Daleks moreso.

Uhh what, care to explain that one? Not calling you wrong but I don't see what you're basing that on. :-/

OT: I feel like the Borg would win.

Since the Cybermen get defeated easily by the Dalek, I pretty sure the Borg won't stand a chance (they probably try to scan the bean to make the right shield but it won't work).

Real Daleks don't use stairs, they level the building.

Also, the Daleks would crush the Borg so hard that the shame would erase them from existence entirely. Oh, no wait, that was the Daleks going back in time and murdering them before they ever existed.

Borg stands no chance. The borg can't even conquer a single galaxy, while the daleks have managed to conquer everything, albeit temporarily. The daleks actually succeed in their plans, except they are then foiled by the good doctor. When have the borg actually had any great victory over the federation?

Well, you've got a cyborg (hence the name) race that used to be like human, but abandoned their original biology in favour of mechanics in their quest towards perfection. They wish to assimilate all other humanoids into themselves, taking away their individuality and making them into identical creatures with no other goals than to help the collective survive and spread.

People who weren't aware of the old Doctor Who complained that the cybermen ripped of the Borg.

Dalek all the way. They've got impenetrable force fields, extreme armor plating, amazing weapons of war and they can fly and shit.

Tho they were beaten by a nerd in a trenchcoat.

Aside from their tendency to be killed by some English bloke with a number of redshirt sidekicks (wait, aren't the Borg vulnurable to those too?) my money is on the impenetrable self replicating time travelling flying death machines. Even if they started losing the stand up battles, they'd just go and kill all life in the galaxy so the Borg couldn't reproduce.

That's my nerdy take on it at any rate...

I once saw an old episode where the Doctor's companion had to fight off waves of Daleks using a cannon that fired concentrated rock music (or something equally silly), and it worked! Obviously the answer to this question therefore depends on the Borg's taste in music.

Also, the main reason VS threads are bad is that they tend to start arguments. I honestly don't see a serious argument starting in this thread.

(or does that count as two words? Meh, anyway.)
RTD gave them magical flying wings.
Bullshit he did. So many people bring this up (even on Doctor Who Confidential, when they talk about this "new" trick), to which I always have to respond "Did nobody fucking see Rememberance of the Daleks!?"

Most epic cliffhanger EVER.

And honestly, this was far cooler than in Dalek because after you heard Adam mocking it, you knew it would find a way up those stairs. Here you just assume that they're safe until you see it floating up and my reaction the first time I saw this was "OHMYGODWHATTHEFUCKISITDOING!!!???"

Sorry bout that, on topic I'd say the daleks would win quite happily simply because they are designed purely for the purpose of killing and conquering, the Borg are not. I doubt even the borg could adapt to the kinds of weapons these guys would wield. And you can't really assimilate a dalek either, that metal kinda gets in the way...

And to all those who say that the the Docotr beats them all the time, well yeah, but he's pretty much the only thing who's been able to beat them. In the audio book canon, when they took over the Earth it took 100 species banding together to dislodge the fuckers. And that didn't even permanently get rid of them! Genesis of the Daleks was based around the idea that they'd end up being the only species left in the universe after destroying everything else.
