the requirements of the console mean that a sizable portion of the potential sales will not have any reason to buy it (referring to the every 24hr connection), this will lead to lower sales numbers, and when you add in the limited locations its being launched in...

it almost seems like they're using the xbone to test the waters to see if they can make a profit without those peasants out in the sticks that can't/refuse to get a stable broadband internet connection

edit: it's xbox live that is limited region on launch, which is a puzzle for another thread

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's being launched everywhere. The list of 21 countries floating around the web at the moment are regions where xbox LIVE will be supported, not where the system itself is limited to being sold.

For every angry forum goer there are a thousand people who just care about having a box that plays games.
Most of those who ordered it are in for a very unpleasant surprise. I can't wait to see all those people selling back their Xbones once they realize they can't use them unless they're millionaires.

Wat.They'll be sued outta the ass then? You can't sell a console that won't play games.

I personally feel that despite all the crap behind it, the Xbone will still sell well and possibly still win this generation. Frankly there are too many people out there with blinkers on and will follow through with blind brand loyalty, despite getting nothing in return for that loyalty.

Welcome to Capitalism, where the ignorant masses dictate what is and isn't acceptable.

Just because LIVE isn't supported doesn't mean that it can't connect to the internet. You don't need LIVE membership for the console to function, only access to the internet. I'm pretty sure you'd need a connection to get LIVE to begin with anyway.

...But that's irrelevant now, because that image clearly states that the console will in fact NOT be sold outside the 21 regions, which debunks my claim above regardless. Depending on how reliable Twitter support is anyhow.

xbox will sell fine. though it isnt reflected in this site, there are plenty of people, myself included, who are fine with buying new games and have no internet issues. the only reason im probably getting a ps4 instead of an xbox is 1. the ps4 is cheaper and i dont really have an interest in any exclusives for either console, and 2. xbox controllers have always felt too big and clunky to me. playstation controllers have always been much much more comfortable

I don?t know if the gamers who are angry at Microsoft are actually going to vote with their wallets.

I also don?t know how many non core gamers will react to the Xbox ones policy on used games, and having to log in every 24 hours.

I do think there not going to win this console generation, they might beat Nintendo, but they have simply alienated too many people to become the number 1 console this generation.

sorry for my poor english.
Yes, they will succeed. Enough people will buy the console that Microsoft will make some profit, Everyone hated the PS3 at launch and it did great.... Microsoft? eh, they'll get third place this year.

It will probably sell ok when it launches. Then tons of backlash will come at MS because parents had no idea their kids new system required an internet connection to work and that some creepy robo eye was always watching their children.

It might win America, but I'm sure it'll lose overall. Seeing how the PS4 is launching in every country there is no way Microsoft can beat those sale with only 21 countries.

It's still gonna sell.

Why?

Because it's advertised as a Call of Duty and Battlefield machine. That alone will make it sell like hotcakes with the casual market. And most people only play those games for the multiplayer, so they won't be affected by the always online issue.

It makes me sad. I really want the console to fail HARD, but Microsoft knows how to market to the frat-boy crowd, with the Doritos and Mtn. Dew and all.

It hurts me to think that the ignorant masses of CoD players are considered the majority of "gamers" these days. :/

It will sell well, whether that's a good thing or not depends on how you view the console. As everyone is pointing out, there are thousands upon thousands of gamers who have already pre-ordered the console, and lots of casual consumers will buy it.

If you were to mention all the problems many of the forum posters on this site have with the Xbox One to the average consumer, they won't even know what DRM is or care about used games, or always on-line requirements, and Kinect always watching, the Xbox brand is big enough where it would be hard to flat out fail.

even with all the "hate" going on right now, the system will still do well. They have good exclusives and the CoD crowd is strong on Xbox, so that will be a big hit for them (again).
