Sometimes I'm just sitting around reading a book, get through a particularly long chapter, then I SWEAR I hear an XBOX achievment go off. But that can't be it, because my XBOX is off and I'm by myself in the house. I also live away from the city, so no noisy neighbors with their TV's as loud as a jet. Then other times I hear my name being called. Same scenario.

Have you ever suspected you are/going insane? Stories are welcome.

EDIT: Absolutely forgot this one! Sometimes I'm bored, and my mind just wanders. Not thinking, just.... drifting. Then a little though niggles in the back of my mind that all the senses I am experiencing are incorrect and I am actually doing something completely different.

I have heard voices calling my name before while my house is all quiet. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with it, unless you start talking to those voices... then you might have a problem!

No, thankfully I consider myself fairly sane. I would say that the biggest threat to my sanity is my intelligence and need to pose philosophical questions with no answers, but I think that's more likely to drive me to suicide than insanity.

About you though, that's quite odd. I would say that either you're going crazy, your house is haunted, or it's fairly normal to occasionally hear sounds that you often hear and are conditioned to react to. I don't know.

Music has been playing in my head non-stop since I was in 3rd grade. Incredible, lifelike audio; I may as well be wearing headphones and listening to the actual song. It's kinda cool when I wanna rock out but haven't my MP3 player. It sucks when a song is stuck on infinite repeat and won't go away.

I haven't had any voices in my head, tho'.

I'm completely crazy. Don't pay much attention to me, I speak random nonsence. (but it contains absolute truth if you look at it right)

I usually get this when trying to get to sleep, and most of the time, it's the worst part of a terrible song playing over and over

clinically, yes. My view of the world is skewed. Right and wrong are of little consequence in my mind. (or so my therapist says)

I occasionally burst into fits of insane and maniacal laughter, like the kind you'd here from a movie villian, but only when I listen to Disturbed or other similar bands

Well, aside from when it's extremely quite, and I randomly think I hear "Counter-Terrorist Win" or "The bomb has been planted" I think I'm fairly sane, or so I like to think.

Random Stranger:"hey got a light?"
ME: *eyes glaze over stare into middle distance "My doctors don't let me play with fire"

I use this all the time.

But yeah the other night i could have sworn i heard music playing, but when i asked my wife she couldnt hear anything. The neighbours were out and all that.

I work in private apartments that are built on the former site of an old Masons building. Needless to say some of the members still roam the halls at night.

I first watched Aliens at my nannas caravan, which was next to a RAAF reserve, which was home to a collection of wild kangaroos. So noises from that way used to scare me stupid. ( not exactly insane stuff, rather an imagination gone wild )

So yeah some of the stuff that reinforces my craziness
