I'm 12 and what is this?

It's over 9000.

Feels good, man.
Mostly this. What even? What do? Stuff like that.

Also noob, nub, scrub, DPS, tank'n'spank, aggro. Many WoW terms can fit into life quite nicely.

I don't hang out with that many people into gaming and stuff, apart from one or two, but everyone knows I'm a gamer and I use nerd-speak. It works for me.

Oh god yes, mumorpegee. Also, I play games with my friends alot, so we get weird looks from passer-by on occasion. And this really weird chick has a thing for one of our friends, and we think she's an alien, so we hum the X-files theme, or call for the MIB whenever she walks by.

I use noob sarcasticlly. I'm also guilty of using "FAIL!" at every possible opprotunity. I've got a bad habit of dipping into meme's too. Over 9000 and "U Mad Bro?" are the most , but i've also used more obscure ones like Sad Keanu and Leo Strutting.

I'm not sure if it counts, but after watching Digimon Tamers i've started using "momanti" instead of "don't worry", "relax", "i'll handle it". Needless to say my coworkers give me rather confused looks.

I use nerd/geek slang and nerd/geek references all the time, even when talking to my non-nerd/geek friends. They usually just ignore it as one of my many weird idiosyncrasies, but sometimes they get intrigued or confused and ask me to explain. In the end we are all laughing.

i say Frell as an alternative to fuck. Not just to censor myself, but because its a funny word.

I say Noob, but thats so normal, i had to think for a second and remember its "gamespeak". I dont say it as an insult as dumb people do, its a description. "why does he keep kicking the ball like that?" "hes a noob....."

I occasionally let slip a 'Sithspit' (from the Star Wars EU) or 'Chriesta Tighearna' (Gaelic for Lord Christ, used as an expletive in the Keltiad novels) instead of just saying Christ. I've also in the past used 'frag' (from the 40k Last Chancers novels) and sometimes end questions with 'ne?' like they do in the novel Ender's Game.

I have also been known to describe situations as fails of both the normal and epic variety.

I re-watched Tamers a few months ago and went through a faze of saying Momentai, lol. It's one of my favourite little sayings since Hakuna Matata

Friend 1: "Then we deliberated on the subject for many hours."
Me: ...*looks around* "We have decided that you are not orcs."
Friend 3: "Lawl"

TL:DR: Yes.

Does coding count as RL? Because I usually name my functions after geeky things and fill the comments with references.

If not, frack is my choice of swearing.
And I apply p&p rpg rules when doing something. "Hit head? Roll 1d3+1 damage!"

Right, I forgot... I pray to and thank various gods for success. Ceiling Cat, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, the Invisible Pink Unicorn...

I have been known to use lol, FAIL, noob, newb, Chuba (Star Wars), Nurgle (WH40K), and assorted Stich-inspired nonsense words. Half of my humour is based on references to movies, games, TV series (cartoons only, i never got into any live-action series), and general mass media knowhow (The other half consists of on-the-spot sketches).

Most of the people i know understand this stuff, and use it themselves, so it comes pretty naturally. Unfortunately, this makes me feel restrained when i talk to people who don't get this stuff (I become a very boring person when i cant rely on geeky cultural references for humour), which is a shame because i know several people from older generation whom i enjoy talking to (most notably, my parents).

I sure do, but with friends who are also in on the joke/culture.

If I'm chatting with my boss, at a gradschool interview, or talking with my parents I won't. 1) they won't get it, and so it just sounds awkward. 2) I gots to show mah maturity ammirite dawg?

My sister recently had a son, and in church, when it came time for people in the congregation to make announcements I said, "The [Jedis-rather not give my family's last name] are plus one to small children." About half of the congregation is from the local retirement home, so needless to say, no one had any idea what that meant.

Wait, what? "Real world"? Unless there's some slang that you use specifically within the bounds of fantasy, all geek slang is within the real world.

Occasionally, but years of having to deal with complete anti-nerds have almost nipped that in the bud. There's the occasional 'frak' and TF2 reference, maybe even a "Stop right there criminal scum!" but that's it. It doesn't help either that nerdy references and geek slang don't translate well to Dutch.

Also, I don't really count "fail" and "lol" and things like that as geek slang. That's just internet/IM/text-speak.

I am unfamiliar with most geek slang. A lot of people in this thread say gorram and I'm unsure of what it even means.
Watch Firefly. They used it as an alternative version to 'goddamn'. Their future culture is heavily Asian-fied and they often incorporate Asian/Chinese sounding words in their speech. Gorram is one of them. At least as far as I'm aware.

I have but most of the time it depends on who I talk to. If I use geek speak at work I get blank looks and me quickly telling them to ignore me or forget it.

I ask my colleagues at work "Are you winning?" rather than "How's your day?" More a reference to gamerdom than geekdom. Gets me some strange looks for sure tho!

I used to catch myself saying "feth", but that died off after a while. Only so many books you can read, wondering which of the authors 2 endings he'll use this time, having enemy leader die and that solve everything, or some random magic thing save them all at the end.

Ok, that's a bit unfair, occasionally he'll buck the trend and have both instead.
