I usually just order a sandwich/soup combo.
Which, for me, is usually half a veggie sandwich and a cup of delectable soup.
So, no. No crackers.

Fuck crackers and screw soup. I don't like my food to resemble a drink.

So there

Depends on if it's thick, delicious soup. Then, yes. Sometimes I crumble it, sometimes I use it to scoop soup.

I find them gross in the soup and it depends on my mood/the crackers available. If it is the ultra cheap crackers, I usually pass unless it is a really unremarkable soup. If they are multigrain crackers, I'll take a handful and nibble on them. NEVER IN THE SOUP.

I just have bread with butter on it. Crackers, to much crunch in soup for me.
This works too. Preferred bread for me is French Baguette.

A proud Kiwi here. Dude thats fucked up! Crackers?! Seriously?! Why the hell would you eat crackers with soup? The only thing that should be eaten with soup is some nice home made bread. I'm siding with your wife on this one.

On a calmer note: Meh whatever floats your soup boat. I'm sure you have a different opinion than your wife over a lot of things. Marmite and chip sandwiches for example. If she's really a Kiwi she will know the magic.

As most of my friends eat soup without crackers and I don't really eat soup, I am always on the receiving end of 2 or more delicious packets of warm saltine crackers.

I'm surprised I'm in the minority here, but I'm from New England where Clam Chowder is immensely popular, and as far as I know everyone floats their crackers in the soup.

I never realized it was that much of a regional thing.

I dip the crackers in the soup, then eat the soup-drenched crackers. Every so often, a spoonful or two of soup.

I, eat them on the side...

I can't help it, crackers do so well to soak up soup, and they add that bit of substance and salt to the mix that is simply perfect... However, if you let them be in contact with the soup for more than a few moments on their own all the salty goodness washes into the soup and the crunch of the crispy cracker becomes lost in the sogginess of defeat...

Yes, I am passionate about my soups.

As another Kiwi, I can confirm that we don't do the cracker crumbling thing. Although we have been known to eat soup with bread...
She does do the buttered toast cut into strips when she makes a stew although it doesn't do much for me unless it's a cream based soup.

She's a vegemite girl, myself I never acquired the taste for either

This, and this is pretty much what everyone I know does. I don't think I've ever seen someone put crackers in soup.

Crackers in my soup ? Why, does it have DRM ? Well maybe 1 or 2 but not from Razor1911, that would hurt...
