I am in the exact same boat as you. When my facebook account was "deactivated" I was like... "Okay..." Then, I logged back in, and everything was THE SAME! Why even have a deativate button if all it does it give the deactivater a false sense of security?

Not sure if I am really going to permanently delete my account, but I have removed a great deal of information, including pictures of myself. I rather dislike how much of my information was accessible to others. Anonymity does have its advantages sometimes...
But a different question: where does social networking end, and forums begin? I mean, we have profiles here, we can be friends, so how is this different from facebook? Granted, the 'like' spam is replaced by good ol' regular forum spam, but still...
