Poll: Do you use Smilies?

Do you use smilies in your posts on here, or anywhere else, or, for example, in texts or the suchlike?

I never use them if I can help it. I see them as shortcuts for people who lack the literary finesse to put across emotion in their writing. Not that I'm elitist or anything, I just don't like using them when I'm well aware I'm capable of writing down my expressions rather than symbolising them

Having said that, I do use them when I lack time, such as when I leave a "" smiley after a sarcastic comment on something like TF2 to show I'm kidding, I do this when I'm more concentrated on the battle at hand to find the right words to convey my emotion and meaning

I like keeping my writing clean here, it seems more fitting that way. For me, at least.

I use them in my day to day work to mask my disdain and disgust.

Sadly, that kind of subtlety is lost on most of the people I deal with.

I do every so often. Depends on the situation, but the Escapist is typically informal enough for me to use them. Clarifying emotions always helps in cases of ambiguity! ^_^

I have a set list, though. I rarely move beyond these six and variations on them (and the one of my own creation)...unless I'm feeling particularly creative and decide to improvise.
