The only time I use it is when the game requires it or for the occasional really good looking moment like some of the flight segments in Kid Icarus. Other than that I never use it. Even leaving aside how fiddly it is, it makes my eyes hurt after just a few seconds.

During the "mandatory" scenes in the Mario game, I do it. That's it.

Gives me a headache. Makes me sick. I don't even care if the 3D in a game is AMAZING. It's not worth feeling ill.

Your loss. I hear the 3D on the 2DS is the best.

Original XL not often. New XL sometimes. It looks pretty good apart from the frame drops but I wouldn't say that it adds much to the experience. Also not really worth the battery drain to have it on permanently and in some lighting conditions it seems to have trouble properly calibrating so everything ends up looking like one of those stereoscopic holograms that's never quite one image or the other.

Got a 2DS in order to avoid this (and to pay less for the console). I'm not a fan of any sort of extra effects, as I am prone to motion sickness and headache.

I'd like to try it out just to see how it looks, but I probably wouldn't use it often. 3D really doesn't do anything for me, aside from making my head and eyes hurt.

I physically can't use it, even with glasses the way my eyes are just means they focus too differently and I get a bad effect.

Personally the 3D was not the main draw of the console for me.

Yes... Basically, all the time... Do I need to? No, but I love it anyway...

Other than that, the only games where I don't technically use the 3D are the games that don't support it, I guess...

I typically only turn the 3D effect on when there's a cut scene or moving picture. I've never really had a situation where I had the 3D effect on for more than a couple of minutes.

Since most of the games that I play on my 3DS are RPGs, I tend to only enjoy the scenes in 3D and nothing else.

I tried when I first got it. It was weird. Was like having hold a blurred sheet in front of my eyes.

Now I only turn it on if I'm stuck on something that the 3D might be integral to. I think in Luigi's Mansion I had to turn it on a few times to see things I could interact with, that in 2D just looked like part of the terrain.

When I first got my N3DS, yeah, all the time. But now I get an annoying after image when I use it, so I haven't in months. If it wasn't for that, I'd use it all the time. I really liked the effect. And I experienced little to no eye strain from it, either. :(

I might turn it on for a minute every few hours just to check out the look of something on screen. It still hurts my eyes after a while and looks like moving cardboard dioramas I made in elementary school. To quote everyone's favorite abridged vampire: "No, that's a stupid fucking gimmick and everyone knows it."

I like the 3d, cave story is pretty cool in 3d. It really depends on the game, some use it well; some don't. I wouldn't mind at all if their next handheld kept the 3d :)

Rarely.
Maybe once or twice for the spectacle, but then back to 2d to save battery life and my poor, overstrained eyes.

I pretty much never use the 3D, and if I do turn it on it is just for a little bit to see what the 3D effects are. Actually playing with it on even at a low setting is hard on my eyes.
