I voted no, although I'm not adamant on it. I just really really don't like kids. Besides, there's a ton of work and stress involved. I'm more of a hobby person than a kids person.
Besides, I'd be way too worried about shaping my kid. I'd be a terrible dad.

Seeing how my little sister is now a mother I can honestly say no I'm guess I'm just to selfish to be a dad. I love to game hang with my friends take trips go out to eat. I just love to be me and I don't want to stop that any time soon.

I hate all this "OH KIDS, when your older you will get a better knowledge of the universe and understand the meaningfulness of children and how it makes you more at one with everything!"

No no no no no no no. You don't understand that some people want to live their life in other ways. Raising a kid means ending your free time to become their guardian 24/7 and some people don't want that.

Some people think its like a divine duty that they must complete within their lifetime (why I have no f**king clue) like they have to further their legacy. Scarecrow from Batman once said that our lives our ruled by fear, fear of dying alone so we get married, fear of being forgotten so we have children. I think Scarecrow knows wtf he is talking about. People find fullness in other ways.

I would've been a father twice, if not for two miscarriages. I would love to have kids, but it might be that my wife and I have to adopt.
Since you shared, so will I. It only seems fair.

If not for my miscarriage, I'd be the mother of a one-month old right now.

I think I would make a good dad (eventually) but I'm not sure I would want kids, just in case they end up with my illness. My dad feels terrible that I drew the short end of the straw, and I don't know if I could risk that myself.

I just wanted to say that this poll could have had a lot more flexibility concerning its options. I mean, you had the posibility to ask as to when (i.e. "yes, now" or "yes, in the future"), but now it just seems like a drab yes/no question without much flavour.
Also, in this context "maybe" and "depends" are the same thing.

Gotta say, I am genuinely fascinated as to why people would overcome such a strong natural desire to procreate. I also find the way you have these completely different views to me quite interesting too. Thanks for enriching my evening all!
Hey buddy, your thinking of a sex drive, not a babymaking drive. Theres nothing hardwired into my head telling me that I must make a baby. Men get horny, they don't have procreation urges.

OT; No. I don't.

Partially because I am selfish, but also because I am-or would be- a terrible father. I have quite a great many faults, none of which belong in child-rearing. That, and as my father was essentially non-existant for a long time in my life, I don't want to have a kid, only for a potentially messy break-up wityh the mother to happen a year or so later.

I guess what I'm saying is I'd only have a kid if I was 100% sure I was going to be with that woman for the rest of my life.

why is it that your answer to this question differs slightly every time you're asked?

OT: I kind of agree with some of the above points. Honestly though I don't want to go through 9 months of pain to squeeze something the size of a watermelon out of something the size of a lemon and have them turn out like me. The world only needs one of me.........

Not really. Children have always... confused me, I never know what to do with them. Are you supposed to allow them to catch your scent before you approach them? Display your dominance by urinating on your land before they arrive? Sacrifice a goat to appease their gods?

Also, I've always believed that a person's life is theirs to do with as they will (within reason, of course). However, when you have kids, you're taking away one of the most important choices away from them, the choice to live or die. Additionally, you're doing it for what is, ultimately, selfish reasons (you don't want to expand the gene pool, you want kids). All of that combined just adds up to one huge headache that I don't want to deal with.

At this point I would like to point out that everything I just said is my opinion on the general topic of HAVING kids and nothing else.

Having kids doesn't sound very fun to me. Adulthood is about freedom to do pretty much whatever I want, and children would ruin that. After working all day at my job or whatever, coming home to yet another commitment in my life would drive me to suicide after a while. I'll make sure that any girlfriend I have in the future will NOT want any.

I'm 16, abortion and birth control are available,so why should I even think about those snot-nosed brats yet?

I'm a 'maybe' and almost a borderline 'no'.

I'm not completely sure to be honest, some days I think it might be cool to have one, and then there are days where I hate kids and wish to be left alone.

Perhaps in a few years I'll change my mind.
