Poll: Do you watch anime?

No, the animation style annoys me usually. I don't know if it's just because I'm dropping unlucky, but I only ever see ones that can have one thing moving at a time. If someone's mouth's moving, everything else ceases to move.
And Looney Tunes got my mind set from an early age to think anything other than western animation just looks wrong.

I really enjoy anime, especially Gintama and Zombie Loan [As well as Death Note and some rom-comy stuff].
It is so weird when compared to what western TV has to offer, so it's pretty fascinating as far as I'm concerned.

I watch a few on the Funimation channel but soon stopped because I realized they play the same episodes everyday.

I like good fiction. If there's anime show that meets my standards of good fiction I'll watch it. Examples are Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In The Shell, Studio Ghibli stuff and recently Monster.

I will however avoid pretty much every 'standard' anime, the kind of anime filled with anime clichés; the retarded faces they pull, ridiculous fanservice, those weird flashy backgrounds, that kinda stuff.

The most normal animé I ever watched was Naruto, I stopped watching that when I realised that the best moment of the show (both normal and Shippuuden) had already past; Rock Lee's fight versus Shimimaru. Coolest. fight choreography. EVAH!

My god your outdated Monster is "recent"?... bebop, GITS, Naruto? all of these are old as time itself, you should go get Durarara, Bakemonogatari, Requiem for the Phamton, some really RECENT movies like Summer Wars, The Girl who Leap Trough Time, Eva 2.22, King of Thorn, Unlimited Blade Works, really good stuff, matter of fact is material like these is what keeps me watching anime to these day (well The Girl who leapt trough time is not that recent but still rocks!)

What i can't stand is the people who love anything just because its japanese regardless of quality.

Anyway OT: yes, I watch animes, but I'm picky, preferring arthousy type stuff that makes me look pretentious (Saraiya no Goyou for crying out loud), though to be fair, I watch my share of mainstream stuff. However, series I avoid like the plague (for being so drawn out, and I will invite a lot of derision for this): Bleach; Naruto; and One Piece. (I watched them all for about 30-40 eps, and then got bored... yes, I am of the short-attention span type, though some series, I wish were longer.)

You'll get derision for not liking unbelievably repetitive and formulaic shonen?

That would be awkward.

As long as the Anime's main character isn't a poorly dressed skinny teenager ging to save the world (*cough* Naruto *Cough*) And has expandable character's, then yes.

I prefer manga. Its more canonical and Im scared that the voices will be bad. Currently reading Soul Eater , Junjou Romantica and trying to catch up to Naruto.

Most of those are borrowed from a friend (though Sailor Moon is mine).

And I am one of those wierdos who prefers to have a physical copy. More tangibility than digital, and I really like the artwork. So, yeah. For the collection.

I like anime and i watch it.
There are a lot of great masterpieces(in my opinion) and i think that finding and watching those is a great source of entertainment.
Personal faves: Clannad,Deathnote,Darker than Black and Fate/ Stay night.
What i like about them is that for one theyre drawn making them really have no limit to what you can find and for two theyre made mostly by Insane people which means that some of the stuff is incredibly unpredictable and it can keep you interested for a long time.

Ha, you'd be surprised just how many times I've seen the line 'XXXXXX is awesome. Watch it. Now. What're you waiting for?' without much critical justification.

I watched all of Rurouni Kenshin and was left wondering whether I liked the whole thing. It started off great and tailed off miserably because the plot got drawn out, fights got samey and lost all originality that left me smashing my head on my keyboard in a flood of tears. Conversely, I watched Sword of the Stranger (ok ok, it's a film) that was just the greatest work of animated-action (the fight at the end says it all, do you want me to go into it) and had me shouting PREQUEL! PREQUEL! when it finished.

Guilty pleasure: Bamboo Blade (season two, please, I've been begging for the last few years)

The only anime I give any amount of credibility to and that I consider an actually good show would be Cowboy Bebop the rest I view as annoying trite that I wouldn't consider watching let alone enjoy.

I don't like a lot of it, as like any medium, it has it's sub-genres, and it's good & bad shows.

But I will watch the dub, if available. Always. Even if they edit shit out.
