Poll: Do you watch Let's Plays?

I think they are absolutely horrible to be honest.

I watch retsuprae every now and then, if thats gives you an idea of what I think of let's plays.

The closest it gets to for me is Freeman's mind.

I watch them for humour and nostalgia. If I haven't played the game and have no desire to do so, then I'll look for an LP that has humour in it (deceasedcrab is always funny). But sometimes I want to see a LP of a game I remember to be fun. Like Paper Mario (the first two). I loved those games, and the LP I saw for them was rather enjoyable.

Most LPs are boring, but i watched Daikatana, Persona 4 and Phantasmagoria 2. Probably one or two others that i can't remember. I'd watch more, if i could find some entertaining ones.

Any recommandations?

Overthegun, Necroscope98, Kikoskia, LordVega(he has stopper but still has alot of LP's in his playlist's)and Palevoyager are the best IMO

Personally, I'm not entirely sure what makes a "Let's Play" different from a regular video walkthrough. I guess they originated on the something awful forums, but you have to pay for that, so nuts to it.

But yeah, that small discrepancy aside, I enjoy watching 'em.

Let's plays are pretty awesome. I like that and live streaming.
Umm favorite Lets Player has to be UltraJman, his LP on IWBTG was just beyond hilarious, cloud8745 is who I watch for a good Silent Hill walk through, but he kinda fell off the face of the earth. Chuggaconroy isnt that bad, he had a few good play throughs. And ProtonJon is just awesome.


Edit: Just started watching DeceasedCrab. He's not too bad.

As Furburt and a few others have mentioned, Spoony's Let's Plays are very funny. They're the only ones I've seen and I love each and every one of them. From SWAT 4 to The Ripper, he does an amazing job.

Yeah, I've watched a few Let's Plays before. I usually like them, even if they're not funny because they often introduce me to obscure games I've never seen before that I might be interested in. Or they show me games I played a long time ago, which allows me to re-experience those games to see if my opinions of them are justified.

But other time I just watch them because they're funny. Most recently I've been watching the LPs by Tipping Forties [http://www.tippingforties.com/Default.aspx]. They're certainly not what I would call professional, but they never cease to amuse me. Plus they're now playing Tales of Symphonia. I've been wanting to see someone else mock that game for a long time. Though watching them play it has shown me that it wasn't nearly as bad as I remember it being.

Some of them. I think that LPs would be more fun to make than to watch. But still, some of them can be really funny.

Never heard of them before this and have no interest in watching one. I prefer to play games, not watch people play games

I only watch them if it's a game I want to play but can't (like I don't have the console) or if I'm playing the game too, and I'm stuck. I'll just watch the part that I'm stuck at and move on (typically).

Otherwise, I don't watch them much unless the player's really funny. I can't think of any particular ones at the moment, though.

I have watched several Let's Play videos (for example, from RanshinDA and AltEisenSpirit) and I am actually trying to make Let's Play myself. However, I have absolutely no sense of humour and a horrendous voice, which would explain the low number of views on my videos. =(

They are very fun to make, though!

Aye, often times I'll watch LPs and rentals in lieu of using reviews to gauge whether or not I should buy a game. If it looks like something I'd enjoy, I'll go for it.

Well, I've read a few LP's, and they were very entertaining. Yahtzee himself made one a long time ago, and it's actually not very good at all. The best I've read are by a fellow who goes by The Dark Id, and his stuff can be found at the Let's Play Archive, though I can't link directly to it due to the site's format. His LP's are absolutely hilarious, and are best read in order of their writing.

The only video LP I've watched is Shamus Young's Spoiler Warning series, which has just finished Mass Effect and will soon begin on Fallout 3. I recommend Shamus' work to anyone.
