You find a lot of petitions on the internet, some with stupid topics like "OMG WE NEED TO VOTE ****** FOR MAYOR NOW111" (The one I saw was a Nathan Fillion one,)
Some are sensible, like the Amnesty International campaigns to free political prisoners.
But do any of them work?
There must be a hundred "Un-cancel Firefly" petitions, but nothing has happened.

I'm not too sure to be honest.
I mean, Facebook brought back the Wispa chocolate bar through petition, but it didn't work when they tried something else..

I don't sign petitions. In my experience, petitions fall into one of several categories:

1) A topic in which I have no vested interest (such as a topic espousing the virtues of using non-disposable shopping bags)
2) A topic that will not change, even if my illustrious signature is obtained (Such as allowing gay marriage in Texas)
3) A topic that may change on the surface but the fundamental mechanics will stay in place (such as requesting one politician be replaced with another)

By and large, anyone zealous enough to walk around with a petition is probably not the sort of person who is going to deliver a well thought out and rational solution to any problem.
