The Cape was a NBC TV show in 2010 that lasted about ten episodes, one of which is only available online. It was badass, even though I fell asleep during one of the episodes.

Does anyone actually remember watching this before it was cancelled-preferably with good memories? One of the episodes, The Lich, was so strange and surrial that it is still etched into my brain.

I know, its a Batman Rippoff. Spare me the whatever.

Everybody expects the first episodes of whatever to be action packed and take no prisoners. Its slow in even the slightest way, some people will just wash their hands of it. Never seen the show. Its usually the ones that get cancelled early that have the most promise.
That's not an unfair approach to watching a TV show, however. If it can't hold my interest within the first few episodes then it probably won't at all. Likewise, I'm sure that you've heard about the "hook sentence" in writing? If you don't impress or "hook" your reader/viewer within the first few lines of the book/script then you are doing something wrong.

I'd toss Jericho up as an example of a show with promise that couldn't live up to that promise within the time it was allotted.

Eh.
I found it to be pretty shitty; I don't really mind it being cancelled.

I don't watch much actual TV so I wasn't aware of it when it was on.

It's on Netflix now though, so I'll probably check it out at some point.

I saw it promoted, I never watched it because it looked goofy as all hell.
The premise seemed pretty generic too, like if you asked someone who didn't care about superheroes to come up with a superhero this is what they'd come up with. He just struck me as the most boring thing, a shameless, unoriginal, fly-by-night ripoff of the real deal.
Of course I never watched it so who am I to say?
