GFWL is about as close as I get to actually shunning a game.

Of course, if Diablo 3 continues to stay on the course it's on, I may actually have to boycott my first game ever because of DRM. I can't PAUSE? Really Blizzard?

Always online DRMs are a big turn off for me. The closest I have gotten to one is Starcraft II and that still has an offline mode. Diablo 3 may end up being the first Blizzard game I don't buy because of it being online only.

Keep in mind I used to play MMOs so it's not the being online thing that is a deal breaker it's the idea that I play most games single player only and expect to be able to play that even if my internet is out. If I want to play online I'll get an MMO.

I was fully intending to get Arkum Asylum and Arkum City.

They have SecuROM. One of the worst DRM's there is.

I have settled for watching a playthrough on Youtube. Money saved, shit kept off my PC.

Well about 90% of those shits and grins purchases I usually made went out the door, and any game I really want will haveto wait until I see a crack on the internets for it.

Especially anything EA or Ubisoft related I keep at a very long distance.

I wouldn't have bought Skyrim if it did.
Except for always online DRM. I'm not going near a game that uses that.

Was so ready to pre-order BF3, it was one of the main reason I upgraded my hardware. It having a mandatory Origin install even if you buy it physically, killed that off for me. So no BF3 for me.

Not at all. The worst experiences I have with DRM is from Assassin's Creed II, where I think three times over the course of playing it had a small internet hiccup and closed out back to the desktop. You know what that reminds me of? The dozens upon dozens of times Bethesda games suffer errors that bork the game up and force me back to the desktop.
Honestly, I don't understand why people have such issues with DRM.

Your damn right it does! Well, it depends on the DRM. There are a few popular games I didn't buy because they needed to be online all the time to run the single-player, and theres another one that scans your computer for certain software before it can load itself on.

I'm not missing out though, I can just go to the internet cafe down the end of my street and play them all there.

A few times. Assassin's Creed games are a good example. And I may end up not getting ME3 if it turns out to be Origins exclusive (this has nothing to do with my computer's lousy specs, *cough*)

I'll buy games with DRM, but only at a discount, cheap.
The game may crap out any time the activation server is shut down and you can't trade it.

I'm not getting anything from Origin aslong as they ban paying customers for trivial stuff, because that would mean supporting it. This isn't directly DRM related come to think of it, it's just that DRM makes it possible for EA to behave this badly.

Steam is the DRM equal of a Console. You NEED a console to play the game, thats DRM there.

Yes, I won't buy a game with a Onilne pass no matter what it is to me. I shouldn't need to type in a 90 digit code and wait several hours for it to verify.

It depends on how BAD the DRM is, if its just that I need Steam, I'm OK with it. If its a online pass or one that blocks of 50% of the game then I won't.

You do realize that your DRM is worse then ours, yours is a 200$ console, ours is a free downloadable game auto-installer that keeps accounts safe and across the webs. Also, we don't have any actual DRM that isn't broke in a week. Infact, all PC games now can be bought over the interenet are legal copies. We have a different DRM that is supposed to fight piracy which doesn't work.

I'd also like to point out that if your box there gets broken by some mechanical failure, its usually cheaper to buy a new one. Not counting that we don't have the code entering online passes, or ones that cut off a part of the game for DRM.

Now, tell me again, your proud to hate on PC's yet can't see past your own console?

Yes. At one point I was about to buy Spore (as in, on the confirm page on amazon) but then it occured to me how badly I was against SecuROM. I cancelled the order at that point.

Having been burned by other DRMs (can't play it or having to spend hours on a work around) I can safely say that I'm wary of any game that has it.

So yes. It's not some ideology/principle just a view gained from previous experiences

In comparison to requiring Steam, GFLW (the save game eraser) or Origin, I actually did not mind this kind of DRM too much. I know lot's of people have problems with it, but my experience has always been fine. It works in the background and I never notice it.

Now the game I just had to fight to get working because it requiring yuplay, AAARRRGGGGHHH!!!! At least with secureROM I can still lend games to my brother without all sorts of account sharing issues. And don't start, yes me and my brother buy games between us to decrease costs, as we have done for the last 20 years.

I actually have more of a problem with Batman using GFWL than secureROM. The amount of save games GFWL has killed for me.

I don't get Ubisoft games anymore.

I don't even get them on console, because they're more expensive than the DLC infected PC version.

If they release a game I have to play I'll rent it.

Depends on whether or not a good crack becomes available so i can be sure i can play the game in the future when the company goes bankruptcy or something and their online activation server goes down.

Also, this is just for games. I directly REFUSE to buy digital music that is DRM-protected (even though the DRM is removable with software like Soundtaxi). Period. Fortunately Apple was smart enough to realize this and convince the record labels til remove the DRM on iTunes Music 4 years ago.

Oh, and in the case of stores like Origin, i stay away, especially after the forum-bans-suspend-games controversy. The only way EA is going to get my money is by releasing games that doesn't require Origin. I don't give a sh*t if it's Battlefield, Mass Effect 3 or whatever, if it requires Origin even with a retail purchase, they won't get my money. Period.

I very specifically go out of my way to download games that have restrictive DRM.

Even if i have no intentions at all of playing them. Even if i'm just going to delete it the moment it's finished.
I just like to add onto that little 'downloaded' list to send the companies a message - this shit does NOT work, and i will not buy your product if it has it. I will not pay for the privilege of having my own fucking property not do it's job because your idiot employees can't maintain a server or because my ISP is derping all over the place again.

Now, Skyrim?
No stupid DRM. So i bought it.
