Last week, my friends and I planned to get together on Saturday for much needed practice on a group of songs we wanted to play. We decided on Thursday, but the day we planned they called to say they can't go (no driver, or other plans, etc.). Monday I spoke to them to make another plan for today, they must come (as we have made plans for a week, constantly reminded, made sure everything was in order so they could go) or we will not play the songs we wanted to play for the next school-operated show.
Of course they didn't come. After telling them several times to ask their parents, my lead guitarist's father arbitrarily decided to take him to see Avatar "as a family". Ok then, 3 hours I heard it was and it was noon where I heard about it so I thought we could practice after they finish. 6 o'clock and no word, I became pissed. We will not play the Abbey Road medley and at this moment he is at an ice rink with other friends who planned to go together.
Other history where this guy was unreliable is that the last time we actually practiced, he didn't know any songs. And the only way he actually started learning the songs I told him to learn was when I had to call him an "unreliable bastard", which kicked him into temporary reliability mode.
Am I being too hard, or is he really unreliable and I should ditch him?

Here's the questions for you nonreaders and readers alike:
When a plan has been made, are you one to make sure you stick to it or desert it once you realize at the last minute that Fallout 4 or CoD7 or whatever has just come out the day the plan was made?
How often are you deserted? How often do you desert?
What is your favorite thing about dessert?
