I get put off because I consider it patronising, and I can't take a game seriously. If a play a game and it happens to have someone nice to look at, then that's fair enough. If the game consists around making someone look sexy, I see them as often over-doing it and make it fall flat on it's face.

So, I'm not particularly moral. I just think it done shittily for my own tastes.

I won't buy a game because it's sexy, but! I don't object at all, I enjoy seeing sexy women on my games and movies. Although I loathe it in the music industry. I find it disgusting that people can sell music based on looks, does that make me a hypocrite? Probably...

It certainly hasn't worked for me.

I don't know about others though.

But in my opinion, people who buy stuff because of sex appeal, like buying Bayonetta because she is hot, are weak minded.
I have some pictures of Demented Teddy, it's going to cost you though.

Yes.

That is all.

Sex sells. Its that simple
Precisely.

The amount of
"Not for me, but for others: Yes (because I think I am special and always superior to ones who have such thoughts)" -opinions
makes me facepalm.

Sex and Children/animals/cute things are the top 2 advertisement strategies for a reason.
They do indeed sell, even if they don't sell you'll remember the ads.
Comedy is actually the third most common marketing strategy.

It's why I remember the bayonetta ads. Jumbly bits skimpy clothes and lots of revealing poses. I may not want bayonetta but I certainly remember the ad and when it comes down to it, if you remember the ad you remember the product.

It's why alcohol ads got banned in the US as they conveyed the image "drinking alcohol will make you cool and irresitable to hot women", the ban has been lifted but you certainly don't see the same style of ad as before, and now they all include the message "Drink Responsibly"

Not on me it doesn't, but for the fact that people are sometime willing to shell out $40 for a game that claims you can have sex I'd say it does to a degree.

I Dislike Sex in songs, like honestly, how can you get off over some guy singing about holding boobs? sex in TV doesnt do anything for me, its more a meh, i dont like this show, so i wont watch it. Sex in movies, If its a good movie ill watch it, regardless of sex in it. I dont go out of my way to watch/listen/play games with sex in it

I feel like it doesn't affect most people directly, but it can affect the general public opinion on things, and from there you may decide to buy the product

speaking only for commercial advertisements of course

Paris Hilton slutting it up for the camera does not make me want to eat at Carl's Jr. The mention of the Carl's Jr. BRAND NAME makes me want to eat at Carl's Jr.! Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger and Criss-Cut Fries FTW!

I tend to buy stuff aimed at a mature audience.... That has nothing to do with sex though, I just like dark or intelligeant material to piss away a few hours.

Unfortunately though yes, sex does sell. People are swayed more by attractive people then plain people, and the less clothes they're wearing the better. People do fall for such gimicks.

Sex should only be used when relevant though. for instance if you have a film noir woman whos main tool is sex. In advertising I can't think of many times sex is relevant apart from maybe to sell said story. Perfume adverts always annoy the hell out of me.

If there are 2 movies showing, and one has an attractive woman, I'm going to that one if it doesn't completely suck. Hopefully it will be a Tarantino movie.

It is all around us. Movies, music, tv, video games, entire magazines are devoted to it. If it's media it more than likely to contain it. But does sex really sell? Does Paris Hilton washing a car in a sexy swimming suit really make you want to eat that hamburger? Let me know what you think!
The only appealing sex for purchase is real sex (which I'd be happy to pay for were it not legal and therefore more expansive here) and porn. The latter of which is free.

No thanks, I don't want my movies to be excused for their shittiness on account of nudity, no thanks I don't think games need another excuse to perform worse.

It's the Oldest Profession, isn't it?
Sex Appeal, the more commonly legal aspect of sex sales has been moving Romance Novels for centuries now regardless of literary value of each individual 'story' and it has made careers for dozens of boy bands and models no matter how middling their talent, so it sells as well or better than Sex itself.
One just has to be sure to account for the specific tastes for one's chosen target audience. Selling leathermen to someone who wants the girl next door is as pointless as selling niquabs to nudists.
