I didn't read the whole wikipedia article, but I did read the book that went over the case study. Long story short, a boy was re-assigned surgically as a girl after a circumcision accident. The parents raised him as a girl, never told him about the surgery, and generally made every enviornmental factor indicate, "Girl". He gravitated towards boyish things, generally acted like a boy, and felt that there was something severely wrong with him. When he eventually found out he was originally a boy, he said that it made perfect sense, and lived as a man.
But in regards to this ad, yeah, an instance of pink toenails is absolutely nothing to worry about, and calling this an issue of any extent is silly.
The kid is five. In terms of painted nails, he's just trying to have fun and be like his mom (which shows that she is a good parent because he looks up to her). Gender-confusion my ass.
I don't have an idea if it's a boy or a girl so can't really say.

I think most little kids, male or female, at some point step into their mom's high heels and go "I'm a giant!" and not "I'm so confused!" Children that young partaking in and activity that is considered the norm for the opposite gender means only so much. I mean, little kids eat dirt...
oh please, my sisters made me put on dresses and makup when I was five and I didn't turn out wierd or anything like that.
It got people talking about them so it worked, it's still gonna be removed by them I think. it's still an interesting choice tho, I would have thought they would have show off how good the shirt is or something, not how free and liberal the parent is.
Im not gonna lie, I got my nails painted when I was 5 too, now I have a girlfriend, so I like to think I'm not gay.
In an age where grown men can enjoy My Little Pony, I see no problem with this. Hell, I've bought a few womens shirts just because they fit me and they were the only ones in the store with designs I liked, the fact that they were made for women means nothing, it's just a shirt.
Anyone who gets offended by this needs to quickly catch up with the rest of us, gender and race are a thing of the past now (well, to me and most of the people I know, at least, I can't speak for the entire world for obvious reasons) it's about time people just got over it.
