quite a few MW2 spoilers here

[spoiler/]this isn't a thread to ***** about modern warfare 2's airport level, or to ***** about the bitches bitching about it,
but while killing all of those civilians and police officers in that russian airport, I was enjoying it,
even while shooting those people crawling and screaming and gasping for air while trying to help their friends to a safe location, because they are so selfless[/spoiler]

does this make me a bad person?

The game is supposed to be fun. If you didn't enjoy it, the game wouldn't have been fulfilling its most basic requirement.

So you find killing pieces of code enjoyable? Well you should, that's what most shooters have you do for the entire game.

Yes, it makes you a terrible person.
Yes, that kind of stuff is amazingly fun.
All people are inherently evil though, so its ok.

Edit:
If that kind of stuff wasn't fun, games like Grand Theft Auto wouldn't exist.

Intellectually speaking that scene is wrong on a lot of levels, but it certainly does stroke a gamer's ego. It actually reminds me of a 80s game, where at the end of each level you get to unload a machine gun at a row of blind-folded dudes in front of a brick wall. And you don't get to the start of the next level until you have killed them all.

Think of shooting those wounded people trying to crawl away from you as just putting them out of their missery. That's what I did.

Also, you're probably not going to get the most balanced reply asking that question on this particular forum.

I think it makes you a more terrible person if you actually feel sorry for them.
They're not real people, they're not even real.
It's not even an actor who's eating the bullets, it's a bunch of polygons.

Somehow relating to these anonymous polygons, and feeling guilt over them, is more worrying than anything else.

Drunk, 10am, not going to elaborate. Might regret this post when I wake up.

Innocent pieces of code that look and act like innocent people who did nothing to encite your bloody rage. Look at how they cower in fear. Their blood shall taste of victory.
...
...
What? Oh sorry. Read my previous response.

Thats not the point though. The point is they're a representation of real-ish people. Just as burning a flag in a game would only be slightly less morally wrong than burning it in real life. That flag isn't real, and neither is the real flag the actual country. Its what the actual burning represents.
...
Did I just compare a video game to flag burning? My God I've been at this too long. I need to go kill something (virtually) right now.

it's a game.
Of course you're not actually killing people. The idea is to convey the feeling how horrible something like that would be from the eyes of the person doing the shooting.

Personally, I justified it by thinking about people that hold up the lines when I was at the airport. But after the initial scene out of the elevator, I didn't shoot anyone, and actually tried to get between the people to stop the AI from killing them.

It was... I didnt really like it. But the intention worked for me
