the world doesn't suck. you get what you give. if you think life sucks move to a third world country where people are starving. stop feeling sorry for yourself and do something.

Would it be such a bad thing if the Human race were to destroy itself? I think not.
It would be neither a good or bad thing. It would be a meaningless thing, if the rest of this world is meaningless. However, I don't see the necessity for that, anyway. Anyone who does not like the world can feel free to leave. For everyone else, it seems existence is a better option.

Plenty of philosophers have toyed with the idea of the meaninglessness of life. One of the most pessimistic I've read (a man who somehow manages to derive meaning in a meaningless world) is Schopenhauer. You should check him out - he'll either make you even more depressed, or help you accept the state of things, and look at it as some sort of inter-galactic joke.

Ya know, Mr *looks up first post* Kruxxor, it sounds like you're suffering from some of the issues in this surprisingly amusing article on unrelenting misery:
http://www.cracked.com/article_15231_7-reasons-21st-century-making-you-miserable.html

In other news, I think the world is pretty awesome. We are currently living in the greatest period of scientific development in our history. The things mankind will be capable of by the end of the average Escapist poster's natural lifespan (barring car accidents/autoerotic asphyxiation) would probably blow our minds harder than an Amish bloke in an Ann Summers shop. Yes there's neds and corruption and imminent ecological disaster, but there's also hope and volunteers and innovation and friggin' geniuses (a few of whom may post on this very board) who have the knowledge, the resources and the determination to make things better.

I studied env. chem. at uni because I want to help out with that. While I'm looking for a job that lets me help I'm involved with a charity that helps to educate kids in the third world to maybe make their corner of the world better. There's plenty of non-suckiness in the world but finding the best of it takes time and effort. That's how I look at it, anyway.

Anyway, I agree there is no particular meaning to life.
You just need to find your own.
You said it.

Then Bush got re-elected.
Hey guys I made a Bush joke. I'm so clever and funny.

Anyways, this world does not suck. If you think it sucks, then why don't you go to the other worlds in our solar system. See how you like them.

Yeah, the world sucks. I have to say I totally agree with you there. By the world, of course, I mean the people that run the world and the people that live in the world.
Whether or not the world would be better off without people on us is sort of an arbitrary question. The world doesn't necessarily care what society does or does not do, so if we all nuked each other to hell it would keep spinning like any other planet.
As for you, what's so bad about being homeless? Besides the fact that you can't post on Escapist, of course. You get to drink all the time and harass cityfolk and such and people say "oh, he's homeless, just pity him." And you can piss in the street!

Earth is a wonderful and majestic planet, but humans are an infestation that covers all of its beauty in a blanket of concrete and machinery. Our population is way out of hand. If our population was the size it should be, the quality of our lives would immensely improve, albeit fewer of them.

All worlds suck, it's called gravity.
... <url=http://www.gfxwallpapers.com/images/wallpapers/kitten_smile_B-407277.jpeg> Sorry
As a pessimistic person I often find myself doubting the world and the people populating it.
But it's the only world we have so we have to make do whether we like it or not.

Most people can make their lifes as good as they want to, to some is easy, to some is hard and to some others is harder but most can live happily.

The world is a world and I personally enjoy it.

There's good, bad, amazing and evil in the world, what kind of perception you have decides it.

Majority of people on this Earth (I believe, at least) are two faced. There are some geniunely nice people but they are few and far between.
EVERYONE is two faced. Just some are a more drastic change than others.

Quality is relative, since we have no alternative, we can't say that it sucks. I'm rather fond of it, warts and all, alot of potential here, just needs a few revisions.

I think its working just fine. What's there to compare it to anyways? Find me a world where everyone is happy and satisfied without any mind control and then we can call this world bad.

Well maybe if you took the time to look at all the shiny things in the world you would be happier.

Generally, there are always bad things with good things. I wouldn't say we live in a utopia with only happiness and flowers, but I also don't think we are wallowing about in a pool of self created death and muck.

To be honest, the world doesn't suck. At least for now it doesn't suck. When we get moon bases and other stuff like that we'll have different opinions. For now, I'd just be happy that we have air to breathe.
