Poll: Does your avatar affect your words

So I found myself in a couple of situations recently where I believe somebody's avatar effected me.

In one, somebody made a semi-smug comment, something I don't think would have annoyed me as much normally. But thier avatar was this blond guy with his chin upturned and a smug smile on his face.

Another time somebody made a very serious remark which was also enhanced by a creepy faced Anime girl with a blank expression.

So my question is do the avatars we use influence the interpretation of our words? Would someone be surprised or put off if I used cutsey talk with my avatar looking the way it does? Do people lean towards certain avatars that reflect thier comments?

Of course I'm not always affected by......wait.....what is your avatar anyway?

It really depends on the comment in my opinion. If they say something that goes with their avatar we tend to notice it more then when it doesn't.

I dont really look at avatars, its very very rare that i stop reading for that. Only the familiar ones kinda pop out into my eye and then i think "ahh its him/her" well or "oh no not him/her again"

They don't influence my words, I am not the Bat-Egg, but they do influence my interpretations of other people's words. For instance, if someone has an avatar of a kawaii anime chick, I read their posts as if they are coming from said girl.

I think mine is self-explanatory for the most part. I don't go off on fanboy tangents but if it's something related to Sega, I will offer an objective view. Always been a fan of the company, but I'm a realistic fan. I accept every fuck up they've ever made from the business end of things. It doesn't make the good things they've done any less awesome.

As for my avatar, I just like Smugleaf and... Well, he's just my favorite Gen V starter is all. =/

Sometimes, it sort of contributes to how I form someone's overall identity. Their posts, profile, username, it all sort of makes up that person in an abstract sense.

Not sure. I've noticed that sometimes, after I press post and read over what I wrote, my comment seems angrier than I had intended it to be, or more bitter than it had seemed while I was typing it out. Maybe it has something to do with the brooding, melting cat hanging over my words. Who knows.

I don't know. I don't think that I judge people on their avatars, and mine is just to say that I like Minnesota Wild. Even though IRL people tend to laugh at me for doing so

To be completely honest, a person's avatar can sway my opinions.

Not a bunch, but -due to the whole Tone Of Voice thing not coming over well when typing- I'm not always sure if someone is being sarcastic/silly, or if they're being stupid. I'm more likely to give them benefit of the doubt if they have a clever avatar.

If I read something that seems to be an insult and the avatar looks to be a creepy person or whatever I take it as an insult when really it was a joke.

Hopefully my avatar doesn't do that to me.
