I was just wondering what type of people my fellow escapists are, are you guys and gals Dog people or Cat people? Or other? If you have any pictures of your animal, feel free to post them as well! Also, what makes you that certain type of animal lover?

I'd have to say I'm a dog person, I find them to be a lot more fun because they aren't so independent...like cats are. I've had both and I've had better experiences with dogs. But it is a close tie between the two! I'd love to post a picture of my current doggy, but I don't know how to post pictures on here =X

I love German Shepards, but honestly, I've never had the time to give them the attention they need. My cat works with my schedule, and despite being fairly independent when he needs to be, he's quite affectionate.

I think they both have their place. I think cats are better if you're an indoor person since you get more fun from playing with a dog outside. I'm a cat person. Also, cats are fuzzier and don't drool.

My dog (also in my avatar):

Cats. I'm a kitty cat, and I dance, dance, dance, and I dance, dance, dance.

Sorry, but yeah I'm a cat person. They're fun to play with/torture. *evil smile*

I'm a dog person. I'm allergic to cats, so that pretty much makes my decision for me.

I've always been something of a cat person, myself. Although, I have a soft spot for certain dogs [http://farm1.static.flickr.com/9/77837859_effc84170a.jpg] too.

Mostly cats, though. I like cats.

:O BOTH! I love how the loyalty and friendship a dog has to offer, but cats are majestic, independent are derive their happiness from sleeping.

Both are cute.
Both are fuzzy.
Both look great stuffed.

What's to argue? :D

I like dogs, but I absolutely LOVE birds. I have 4 birds, 3 of which are parrots. I just feel like I can bond more with birds. One of mine always flies to me as soon as I walk in the door (a la Dino in the Flintstones), and he even tries to feed me some of his food by regurgitating (which I never actually let him do, yuck!). It's incredibly nasty, but when I think about how rare it is for a bird to be that comfortable with a person, I forget about how gross it is. Many people are afraid of birds, but I can actually go into petshops and get 3 or 4 on me at once.

That said, I generally don't like cats very much. They just seem to be such arrogant creatures that only love you when they feel like it.

As I type this response, my faithful feline familiar is softly purring on my lap.

I come from a family of veterinarians, so I love all animals a whole bunch. I've had many pets in my life, both exotic and domestic, but I have never met another animal quite like my cat. So I would say I am a cat person.

Here's the most recent photo I can find of him. He's a purebred abyssinian.
He's 14 years old and still as cute as a kitten.

Haha, that last part of your post is what really nails it home for me as far as cats go.

I love both, and I have one of each.

Here's a rather accurate painting (and by painting I mean tinkered photo) I did of my cat:

I also have a rather adorable black-mouth cur, though I don't have any pictures of him at the moment.

I like the ability to go out and play with dogs more but you really can't have a dog curl up in your lap, unless its a really small dog but I couldn't bring myself to buy a small dog...and its really not the same as a cat. So I guess in the end I'm a cat person but I wish they were more playful in terms of going outside.

I'm starting to like dogs a bit more, but I'll always love cats. I have 6 right now, and I love them all to death.

Like these two adorable kittens:

Here's what I imagine that cats would say if they could speak. Take whatever a cat is doing and add "because I'm a cat" to the end of it. Oh, and imagine it in an arrogant, drawn-out, and nasally voice. For instance: "Meeeeow, I'm going lay on this sofa now, because I'm a caaaaat. Now I'm going to brush up against your leg, but then leave when you try to pet me, because I'm a caaaaaaaat."
