I'm not donating blood, because I'm gay.

For those who don't know, all gays have TEH AIDS and can never give blood, ever.

Meh. Sucks to be people who need blood. Maybe I should dance infront of a dying man, cut myself and laugh because he can't have by blood.

Not that I'd give it anyway. I'm kind of a dick like that. But I don't have to be, since it's been decided for me.

I always wanted to donate when they did that at my college but couldn't either due to getting tattooed too close to the blood drive or due to being outside of the country (in places with malaria).

Can't donate blood. My anemia is so bad that I have to take 65 mg of pure iron a day, which come in 325 mg tablets.

I donate blood on a regular basis. I've got B- blood type which apparently only 8% of the world's population have so I figure it'll probably be my own blood that gets put into my body if I need a transfusion to save my life.

I donate blood every few months, get lots of free shirts out of that are comfy and awesome to show off "Blond Donors Save Lives" and such. But I don't agree with the idea that if you don't you kill 3 people. That's extreme. Though I'd suppose it'd be almost accurate if there became a serious blood supply shortage and no one was donating, then that is almost as bad. I just see if there's a few dozen people per event then everything's a-okay with me then.

EDIT: As for the people who are upset with the no gays, they don't care if you're gay, just if you've done gay oral / anal sex, because gays have no reason to use protection other than for possible spread of HIV, thus much easier to spread among your population. Not saying it's a smart rule, anyone can get it, just a lot more among the gay population, and I can semi-see their reasoning... as flawed as it may be, however.

I try giving blood whenever I get the chance to. My only problem with it is that those assholes ALWAYS miss my vein. Yes, every single time. I keep telling them, "Please take it from my hand the veins in my arm are deep and hard to feel out." No one listens though. Every time I walk out I feel like a human pin cushion. My dad has the same problem which is why he doesn't give blood. I can't blame him because it pisses me off every time too.

I will say that that football team's slogan is stupid. Hell, the blood you're giving may not be used on a patient. Might just be for a lab somewhere.

Seems like a kitschy slogan for teenagers, similar to "Vote or Die".

Wow, sorry your football team is full of trolls.

Donating blood is a great thing to do. But you're hardly killing someone by not giving blood, it doesnt work both ways

I donate blood pretty regularly.

But the slogan is stupid.

(And also inaccurate - depending how it's used, 500ml of whole blood can save up to 10 people).

I would donate blood, I see no problem with it. But I'm not killing anyone by not donating...

I would donate blood but I can't. I got a blood-borne infection after getting bitten by a tick when working with a vet in South Africa, so can't risk passing it on.

Also, you're not killing anyone by not donating blood, you're just not contributing to saving them.

I donate all the time but I started getting sick easier and faster so I only do it 3 times a year. So that means that I am done for this year. But when my leadership class has its annual blood drive, that will be the beginning of the next year. But killing 3 people? If a single person is bleeding to death, it could take up to 10-20 pints and when you donate blood, you only donate 1 pint. So that is WAY over exaggerated.

I am 25 and have never even been able to donate blood since turning 18. I get tattoos so frequently that the 12 month waiting periods has never been open for me to give blood.

Hmm, I haven't seen any emotional blackmail for blood donation in the UK, how odd. Anyway, seeing this just made me check up on it, now that I'm 17, and it turns out that I can't donate as I'm on anti biotics for acne :O OH NOEZ! Anyway, it sounds dumb, but does anyone know if light anti biotics like that would do anything? Is it only heavy anti biotics not allowed, or just any?
i'm assuming it's more of a precaution than anything but they still probably won't let you donate just in case. it's probably and anti-body thing.

The fact of the matter is... I would give blood.. But I can't.. I'm not going into details, its just that I can't give blood according to the guidlines that they follow..

aren't they supposed to give any new donor a blood test anyway? seems stupid to ban perfectly good blood.

I like to donate, its fun ( and makes you feel kinda high), but saying it kills three people is kinda extreme (and its more letting three people die, not killing them)
