Hmm, I haven't seen any emotional blackmail for blood donation in the UK, how odd. Anyway, seeing this just made me check up on it, now that I'm 17, and it turns out that I can't donate as I'm on anti biotics for acne :O OH NOEZ! Anyway, it sounds dumb, but does anyone know if light anti biotics like that would do anything? Is it only heavy anti biotics not allowed, or just any?
i'm assuming it's more of a precaution than anything but they still probably won't let you donate just in case. it's probably and anti-body thing.

The fact of the matter is... I would give blood.. But I can't.. I'm not going into details, its just that I can't give blood according to the guidlines that they follow..

aren't they supposed to give any new donor a blood test anyway? seems stupid to ban perfectly good blood.

I like to donate, its fun ( and makes you feel kinda high), but saying it kills three people is kinda extreme (and its more letting three people die, not killing them)

I donated blood once, because the teacher said we'd get an extra 5% on our final grade, no brainer. That needle was quite thick though and the only part I enjoyed was my free oreos and apple juice.

Oh and the 5% put me over 90.

They should have stopped asking me questions about sex when I told them the furthest I'd ever gone was a hug.

I've donated about 10 pints. I always plan to go three times a year but usually get around to doing it about once or twice.

I will never give my blood to someone else. I really could care less and honestly I hate needles. I am not killing them, I am just not donating.
hope you have a car accident and lose half your blood.
Thanks, and if I do I will gladly take someone else's. Mwahahaa.

I donate all the time but I started getting sick easier and faster so I only do it 3 times a year. So that means that I am done for this year. But when my leadership class has its annual blood drive, that will be the beginning of the next year. But killing 3 people? If a single person is bleeding to death, it could take up to 10-20 pints and when you donate blood, you only donate 1 pint. So that is WAY over exaggerated.
i'm pretty sure the average male has about 8 pints of blood sooo i'm thinking unless this guy who's bleeding to death is 15 feet tall and about 450 KG he's not gonna lose between 10 and 20 pints, the point still stands though I suppose at most i suppose you could kill 1 person indirectly by not giving blood.

You can say, well you have money, why isn't it given to charity? If you haven't given all your money to charity, spare that which you need to survive (and work to make more money for charity)

You're stealing from the poor.

Yeah I'd donate blood, but the hardest part for me would be not eating for 24 hours before hand.

I live in a family of nurses and they say that if you don't make enough blood it's just thrown out. I don't give blood because of two reasons; I cant fill the required amount of blood and I don't want to wreck my veils (Needles do serious damage)

Nope just being gay automatically means that you have evil blood whether or not you've had sex because as everyone knows gay people are the spawn of satan.

I would donate blood, and actually I've even tried, the problem is that I was born in London during the Mad Cow scare, so until further notice, I can't ever give blood.

Granted, I live in the U.S. I'm not sure how this works out for those that actually live in England. Someone enlighten me?

Wow, sorry your football team is full of trolls.

Donating blood is a great thing to do. But you're hardly killing someone by not giving blood, it doesnt work both ways
It reminds me of that bit in family guy where if you buy a monkey toy then they'll save a real monkey... and if you don't they'll kill one

I will never donate blood, because I have a strong fear of needles and other pointy objects which sink under my skin. I'm not killing anyone because someone else will donate blood.

Also, football players are notoriously stupid. Don't believe what they say unless they can either back it up or it's about football.
I played football for ten years, and just sent out my applications to Duke, Dartmouth, BC, and Princeton... got a 2200 on my SAT's as well. That count as backing it up? No hard feelings, just wanted to point out we're not all muscle-bound oafs.

OT: I donate as frequently as possible. I have O Negative blood, so it's needed. I feel no ill effects, and am not afraid of needles, so I have no reason not to.

Well I may have been mistaken but the exact number, you still wouldn't indirectly kill 3 people. Just a bit too much exaggeration on the banner creator's side.

Pah, we don't have "Blood drives" over here.
We have certain temporary clinics set up on certain dates for registered blood donors to go to.
I myself donate blood, since they slackened the quite tight rules a bit (But they still won't allow men who have had anal or oral sex with other men to donate blood, even if their blood is fine ¬.¬).
So yeah, I go and donate my blood freely to repay the system, in a way.
They saved my life, I'll give them my blood to save other lives, and my organs when I no longer need them.
I have one question for you - what anime is your avatar from? I think I have an idea, but I'm not 100% certain... it wouldn't happen to be from one that has a lot of gory deaths, paranoia and insanity, and a really confusing plotline, where the second series is yet to be dubbed into English... would it?

Anyway, regarding the topic of the thread. I don't donate blood myself, but that's not because I don't want to or that I disagree with it. No, I simply have a fear of needles. That is, I have a fear of needles being stuck into me (though watching them is fine). I always used to get really nervous and worried whenever there was a vaccination at school, and I get extremely nervous when I think of someone sticking a needle into my vein and drawing up blood. I agree totally that donating blood is a worthy cause though, and support other people doing so. I'm also a registered organ donor, I have my NHS card in my wallet at all times so if I die unexpectedly at least my organs will be going somewhere where they can do plenty of good. It's not as if I'll need them, right?

As for whether or not I'm killing people by not donating blood? That's just a stupid way of looking at it. That's like saying that I killed a person because I didn't stop them from drinking alcohol or smoking a cigarette on a single night out, which eventually helped to lead them to the heart or liver disease that killed them years later. Everything everyone does affects someone, it's like in that Discworld novel 'Going Postal' where Mr Pump measures responsibility for eventual death in fractions and stuff. If I donate blood then I'm helping save someone's life, yeah. But not donating doesn't mean that I've killed them. That's just plain illogical.

Assuming I did get the anime right about your avatar, Greyfox105, I approve of the GIF greatly. Rena is easily my favourite character and I am an unashamed shipper of Rena/Keiichi...
