I'll take The Beyond by Cult of Luna for 30, please Bob.
Maybe throw in a little Unearthly Trance, bit of Earth. Lovely.

I started getting into the genre just a year ago, and so far I love it! Right now, I am completing the collection of essential Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus, two of the most kickass bands ever, for sure.
that's awesome, i got them, along with the demos and everything [i think my favorite candlemass saong would be solitude, and from solitude essence of black]

Great, another name for a genre obsessed with names.

Why does metal have to name itself all these different genres? It's as if some of the music sounds so similar that they need to push themselves into a genre just to prove that they are different.

And this is coming from a heavy metal fan.

I like Paradise Lost pre Draconian Times although the vocals on a few of their tunes are cringingly awful.

dude.. to give you a reason for different metal genres: black metal is absolutely nothing like doom metal.. power metal is nothing like stoner etc.. they need to name them somehow

Just listened to 'Saint Vitus - Dying Inside'. Was rather good. I'm normally more of a death metal kinda person.

Not really, you can just name them metal, and then describe them further. I think it works better than having 12 different names for minor variations.

Oh and then each song is in a different genre anyway. Why bother with pigeon holing these bands?
