I played a lot of DOS games growing up. My favorites are Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3d and Crystal Caves. I played those ones in particular, even after we got that fancy CD-ROM thing and the Sega Genesis.
Have you checked to see if there's a text file with the answers somewhere? If you poke around on enough abandonware sites, you're bound to find either that or a full copy of the manual.barbzilla said:My favorite DoS game by far was Fantasy Empires. Old fantasy strategy game by TSR. I spent countless hours on that game, I still have it too. Unfortunately I do not have the manual any longer and I need it to actually play the game (strange form of DRM). I was also a huge fan of wing commander and Prince of Persia.
Yes, I have found text files, but they were not in proper order to decipher the answers.Owyn_Merrilin said:Have you checked to see if there's a text file with the answers somewhere? If you poke around on enough abandonware sites, you're bound to find either that or a full copy of the manual.
Note to mods: this guy has a legit copy of the game but he lost the manual, which is needed for the copy protection scheme. I'm giving him a suggestion of how to play his legally piurchased game, not a suggestion of how to get an illegal copy.
Also, this. I liked Hexen better too. Something with being the Badass that punches giant Snake Demons with his hands...Jazoni89 said:Hexen: beyond heretic was loads better than the original though in my personal opinion.
I have some serious nostalgia for that game.
Damn right, all of these.mikey7339 said:Voted for Doom because of the insane amount of time I put into those games. I really wish they would remake a bunch of the old dos games, update the sound and graphics but leave the gameplay EXACTLY as it was.
Honorable Mentions:
Afterlife - Sim City, except you build Heaven & Hell. Best Lucas Arts game ever IMO.
Myst - Really fun & at the time, prettiest puzzle, adventure game around.
Theme Park - Predecessor of Roller Coaster Tycoon.
Mechwarrior 2 - Fucking awesome, nothing else needs said.
TIE Fighter Wars - Second best space combat sim ever.
Descent - Like a cross between Doom & a space combat sim. Fun but hard and confusing to navigate.
Sir, we are two of a kind.WeAreStevo said:Heretic.
That game was amazing because it was essentially Fantasy style Doom.
I also liked when you'd plug in the cheat codes for Doom it would punish you accordingly
(IDDQD - kills you)
(IDKFA - Takes away all your weapons and leaves you with a stick)![]()
You can get it on steam for around £2.00, if I remember correctly or a whole bunch of the old games.Jazoni89 said:Hexen: beyond heretic was loads better than the original though in my personal opinion.
