I havn't finished DA2 yet (so I can't really comment on the story/ending), but I can say with confidence I don't think it's as good as it's predecessor. The magically appearing enemies and copypasted map areas really ditract from the experience and i'm really struggling to care about the characters as much as i did in origins. I'm not even seeing the huge leap in the graphics that people have been telling me about.
Mabe it's just me, perhaps the console versions have been streamlined, I don't know...
So that's why I'm asking, which is your favorite dragon age? Origins or DA2?

It's not as good. Mostly the characters since those I noticed right away. Besides Varric, Aveline and Isabella, they are each the voice of the parties involved in the main conflict and have nothing to add besides that. And it was not really the story of the Champion as it was the story of the city.

I can't say that either are my favourite games but I'd just rather play Origins. Alistair had more personality and life in his pinky than all the characters in 2. And I hated him.

I find there to be a lot less dialogue with you companions, which I found to be the most interesting part of the first game..

DA:O, because it's "darker" and far more epic.

Atmosphere is better.
Pacing is better.
Story is more fleshed out.
Characters are more vibrant.

Admittedly, though, that Bloodmage elf chick, Marril or whatever, is hilarious.

"Quick there's a fire!"
"But there isn't a fire."
"...it was a trick."
"Oh, very clever Hawke."

I prefer DA2, for now. It's just a little more my style of game in terms of combat. Don't get me wrong, I liked positioning my characters tactically in Origins but something about the Backstab+Twin Fangs combo resulting in an enemy exploding in blood and limbs is just that little more satisfying. Plus the voiced protagonist really makes me a lot more immersed in the game and my character.

That's just me though, I've seen a lot of different opinions. :p
