Can't wait to get playing when Dragon age Inquisition is released for us Brits, but I can't for the life of me decide what class to play.

So you yanks and such who have already had hands on, which class do you think is the most fun and which is maybe the one to avoid. I don't want to wind up 4 hours i thinking 'meh I would be enjoying this a lot more if I was the other class'

Also any one gone for archer? always struck me as the worst one/not really viable on hard difficulties, in the other 2 games but I'm sort of leaning toward it now

Cheers

Well I'm not a Yank, I'm a Canuck and I really like it. Its been a lot of fun, it looks great, runs pretty good and I can see myself coming back to it. Right now I'm playing as a two handed Qunari warrior and it is a lot of fun. Just don't go into expecting The Witcher or Dark Souls gameplay. Its kinda merges DA:O and DAII gameplay into one. At least that is how it seems to me. Frankly go watch some gameplay or reviews on it.

You mean the first Witcher? Its gameplay was horrible, so if you're to expect worse gameplay than that then I doubt it's fun.

First, don't don't buy the older gen versions. There are sub-standard in pretty much every way.

Second, try to stay focused during the first 15 hours or so. The first major area has a lot of meaningless fluff that you should probably ignore. But once you get to the major point (you will know what it is) the game opens up and gets awesome.

Third, there is a character you get to customize about 20 hours in. Stick with the default, as there is currently a bug where if you customize this character, it screws up your voice choice.

Fourth, archers actually seem pretty good, at least in the early game. Totally viable. Just be sure to use cloak a lot.

Fifth, always have at least one of each class in your party, as they all give you access to unique areas.

Me personally, I went mage and am having a blast.

Also if you are on PC, remember to update your drivers as there are some weird graphical glitches.

I'm getting quite a few Direct X crashes during cut scenes, and judging from the forums, a lot of other people are too.

I like the extra mobility quite a bit, and the openness of the world.. However I think they throw you into the whole Inquisition thing too early in the game (pretty much immediately) but it's alright. The zones are freaking HUGE. It now has more of an open world feel to it. So far I think Mages still need some work. Being a melee class in this series is just so much more satisfying. A Mage only gets feeling good once you're leveled up quite a bit. Unfortunately I prefer Mage type classes better overall. Things just seems to have tons of health even on normal difficulties and you just have to spam them with so many attacks.

The world looks great and the atmosphere is very nice, however, it needs patched to deal with the crashes and FPS issues. The game runs worse than it should for people who exceed the recommended specs.

It's...pretty good. I've liked it so far.

Mostly because a lot of the characters aren't what I was expected, in both good and bad ways. I expected Sera to be a bit more...mature than she is. I think Bioware was trying to make her the cute, endearing character, but Sera falls pretty flat. She's more annoying than anything else, although it is entertaining to listen to her and Vivienne bounce off of each other.

Dorian, on the other hand, is someone I thought I would hate. Not having watched very many of the trailers, I expected him to speak with ze moust outraageous azzent...but he's surprisingly fun to talk to, despite his ridiculous choice of facial hair.

Not tried any of the other classes yet, but I do agree that mages need some balancing. I miss being able to spam-cast my spells; it doesn't feel like there is any difference between stamina and mana in this game.

Finally, most of the faces look like they're taking a hike through the Uncanny Valley. I didn't realize people's faces shined like that...and I'm also pretty sure people's lips don't look that ridiculous either. I'm holding out for modders to fix this, a la Skyrim.

But still, I've not had a good reason to regret the money I spent on it. I'd still recommend it.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I need to know this before thinking about buying the game. You can import your decisions from Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 into Dragon Age Inquisition. However, in Dragon Age Inquisition, I've heard that Leliana plays a major role. My question is: if you killed Leliana in DA:O, is she still alive in DA:I? If so, can someone tell me the explanation the give?
Yes she is alive no matter what you did. They say the Maker "intervened" or something like that.

Well they successfully created the worst companion in the history of gaming. I literally want to punch the person who created her in the face.

The game is different but good. Combat can be a little tricky at first and there are more then a few very high level enemies that you can encounter fairly early on. As long as you understand how the game works though then it is fairly good and can be a lot of fun.

while i dont have it you can import your choices but not by loading a save. you go:
https://dragonagekeep.com/en_US/
link it to your origin account and choose what choices you want for DAO and DA2, there is also a text adventure too on it called the last court made by the guys who did fallen london thats apparently meant to add something to inquisition as well.

so yes when the site eventually closes and it will one day you are screwed for importing your choices

So far it's been pretty good, the combat is that actiony style from DA2 with a tactical camera inserted so you can pause time and issue orders, the camera gets wonky, and the controls on PC feel like an obvious console port, but I haven't had any major issues so far, and with some proper speccing and abilities the combat system can be fairly deep and flashy at the same time, even if it does feel like they keep trying to drag the series kicking and screaming into the realms of actiony button masher type gameplay.

The zones are sprawling, and often have a lot of content, they are very much in the vein of the Elder Scrolls style games that set you loose and expect you to find stuff on your own, whilst some quests are your basic "go to quest marker A, kill/collect specific number of B, then return to location C for reward", I have run into a few so far that give you almost no hint on how to complete them, such as finding a treasure map with a picture of a waterfall, then having to find out where the waterfall is and what's there, or enemies dropping key's to doors without quest markers to tell you where said key goes to. The first zone is full of very basic MMO style quests like killing a certain number of rams, or escorting a druffalo back to its pen, but the zones after that seem to pretty much give way to doing stuff that much more directly benefits the inquisition like rescuing soldiers and hunting for artifacts.

The zones are also not level scaled or meant to be totally cleared out the first time through, you aren't going to kill the dragon or close some of the rifts in the first zone until later in the game, and the storm coast has an entire area locked away until a later story mission. The best advice I can give is don't stay too long in the Hinterlands, it's the largest zone I've run into so far, and gets really grindy if you try to clear out as much as possible before advancing the story which can make it seem like a slog, especially since a lot of the quests there are very basic and boring compared to the zones that come afterwards, so just get up to level 4 or 5 and then start the story missions up, once you get your proper base, most of the zones will be open for you to hop in and out of and explore to your hearts content, not to mention it opens up resource gathering missions, which makes stockpiling lots of the basic herbs and ores so much easier than going out and farming them yourself.

The story missions so far have been fun, and the mission right before you get your proper stronghold is probably one of the better quests so far in any of the dragon age games.

The companions have been pretty good so far too, and there's nobody I really hate, Sera being the only one I never bring with me because her skills are similar to verric's but verric is a much better character. The designs are nice too, much gruffer than the pretty boys and sexy pirates of DA2, the designs in this one seem more varied and interesting.

I'm having fun with it so far, definitely worth my $60, if only I didn't have to work this weekend, I would have really liked to get a whole day in with it before next week. If I was rating I would definitely give it a solid 85 out of a hundred, and rank it in the top 3 RPGs I've played this year.

i've only played it for about an hour and i'm enjoying it. the world is incredibly beautiful, and I LOVE that they brought back multiple races. it's a very polished deep game from what I can tell, bioware redeemed themselves. and varric is back, which is freaking awesome.

I've played the game for a bit on PC, I have a few issues. The game does seem to be more console-oriented. Click to move is gone, making looting a real *****. As is your see all item button, replaced with a radar that sounds just like the motion sensor from Aliens. Combat has you hold done the left mouse button. Not fixing many people's biggest issue with DA2. The story hasn't had any epic moments so far. I've encountered multiple bugs/clipping issues with graphics and animations. They did revamp the combat a little bit, adding guard to make up for lack of healing. The game is alright so far, but nothing to write home about.
