Everyone knows driving games, wether it be a realist GT game or a unrealistic Burnout game, whatever it be each of these games have anywhere from 2 driving veiws to 20. But which is your preffered driving veiw. Do You like the behind the car or in the cockpit.

Me personaly i LOVE the cockpit view, it makes everything seem much more realistic and and feels more stable for me, like if i'm behind the car I always overcorrect because it seems like im slidding to much all the time.

It depends what game I'm in. For something like GTA, I prefer the 3rd person view, but in most racing games, I want the first person view.

I suck at driving games unless I have a wheel to use which most of the time I don't so I despise the views.

...but the cockpit view obscures half the screen. I prefer the bonnet-view, as it lets you take corners a lot more accurately than in third-person, and doesn't obscure your view like cockpit-view.

Just behind the car or on the bonnet. For some weird reason I never use the cockpit view... perhaps because I can't really see anything along side me.

Also I thought this would be driving views IRL.

I like the close behind car view cause in the cockpit its harder to gauge how much ur over/under-steering and i dont have a wide screen moniter so it like driving with toilet papers tubes tied to ur face like glasses

When I played Colin McRae Rally, I used either the cockpit cam (original game) or the third-person cam (2005)
In F1 06, I used the TV Cockpit camera (because the actual cockpit camera tends to be impossible to use)
I can understand the realism behind being in the cockpit, but I draw a very fine line between realism and fun.

Furthest third person cam.
Because when you can see the car, it can make for more precise turns. Also, you can see another car coming up on you.

Failing that, a roof cam or hood/bonnet cam.

The only driving game which I've nerded out with on a pretty serious level was Need for Speed: Underground. At first I tended to prefer the chase cam mode (behind the car), but as the game progressed races became more and more difficult so I switched to that games version of cockpit mode (which wasn't really the cockpit because it looked like the camera was placed on the front bumper of the car) and that made the races a lot easier for some reason (easier to control the car during swerves etc.). And once I got hooked I couldn't switch back, which really sucked ass because I couldn't see the heavily customised car during races anymore. :S

I always use the cockpit view on Gran Turismo. On a racing simulator it just makes sense to use the view which is most realistic and immersive. What I love about it is that it gives the feeling of actually being in the car, not just the feeling of controlling the driver.

Always far behind the car. Driving in the cockpit makes me feel like I am missing out on whats going on in the race. Easier to block cars trying to pass you as well.

I find a cockpit view in which I can see the steering wheel really helps my sense of immersion, and despite a large part of the road being obscured by the dashboard, I find it the easiest driving position because the steering wheel is a good indicator of the position of the wheels, which helps with oversteer and understeer.

If there isn't a cockpit view, then I prefer the hood cam rather than a bumper cam, because seeing the bonnet of the car helps with spatial awareness and my perception of distances and the car's handling.

Failing that, I prefer a first person bumper cam rather than a third person chase view.

The third person or chase view is my least favourite because by the time you see the back end of the car react to something, it's usually a little too late to correct the oversteer or understeer.

However, when driving motorbikes I always prefer a third person view, because any first person view is far too disorientating, with the way screen tilts.

I swear it's probably easier in real life.
Only when comparing real life to the newer Need for Speeds, Mafia's racing section or Gran Turismo if you don't understand car tuning...

I like to drive from a cockpit view (?) when actually racong, but when i'm driving in other games, it tends to be 3rd person.
