Reading that topic on the anti-meth advert, I pondered what better ways there were to stop people taking drugs. My conclusion:

My own personal way to stop people from taking drugs is to stop explaining them in detail to stupid children who can't handle knowledge. Instead I show them a big list of drugs like this:

Drugs: Heroin, Meth, Ecstasy, Cannabis, the air of London, Moss Side, holy water, penicillin and fatty foods apparently.
Effects of taking them: You die.


Problem solved.

EDIT: I am hoping you aren't taking me seriously and actually think I whole-heartedly believe this will work. For all those getting angry you must've noticed I was joking when it suddenly went to "the air of London".

My solution is trying not to introduce the concept at school. I remember (somehow) at like 8 being told drugs are bad, I'd never herd of them until then, other children might have, but effectively, school introduced me to drugs.

School's shouldn't teach you about drugs (or sex for that matter), that really should be for the parents to do. That way the parent knows when the child can take it, and then they should be told the truth and nothing else.

EDIT: OP's suggestion I don't think would work simply because you're lying, lying reduces credibility of the informer, if your not credible for information, then the subject (child) will probably be more likely to try them to see whats true and what's not.

There isn't going to be an all encompassing method, and there isn't going to be much creditability to any government attempts as long as they have mixed messages. What do drug abusers do when they run out or have their stash confiscated? They have a pint...

Your idea is what many people already do. It hasn't worked out too well so far. A Better idea would be to set all the drugs, drug dealers and drug takers on fire with flamethrowers.

That's a flat-out lie, a fact whose discovery would lead children to stop believing anything you say. There is actually a truth to the "gateway drug" posit: 'I smoked a joint and nothing bad happened. They must have been lying about heroin too.'

The way to stop drug abuse it to tell the truth. ex:

I think the absolute best way to stop people from using drugs is to prevent them from ever starting with it. Prevention is definitely key.

I think if you overdose, you WILL die. Anything that affects your blood pressure or how large your vessels get might get you killed.

I know it's a lie; I lie to children. Everytime the truth is told it never works, so a lie so blatant it's insane is a change of pace.

Or y'know let people use them if they want? I could care less if a person is using a class C drug or hell even class B in no way worse than drinking if you use moderation and I'm speaking from experiance here not from tv adverts and talking points. Want a way to stop wide spread addiction to heavier class drugs? Legalise lower class and have the government regulate them.
