I don't really care all that much about the Dark Souls II game itself, but being on the escapist I have come into quite a lot of easy mode debates in which an easy mode is met with quite a fair bit of resistance,. One particular argument stands out to me. This argument being "An easy mode should not be included because otherwise I will use it, because why challenge myself when I have the option to make things easier?". This strikes me as a very invalid argument, as I would assume that people who wish to be challenged wouldn't bother with an easy mode when they could have the hard mode which they so desire, and having an easy mode doesn't make the hard mode any easier (For the sake of my argument, we are assuming that the hard mode is perfected before an easy mode is even in the works). I do, however, realize that my opinion isn't really worth shit and is by no means objectively right, so I have come to you all to ask.

Do you think using an Easy Mode is a viable tactic for someone who's primary desire from a game is it's challenge, and do you think that it is fair to call a game too easy when the challenge is there (not as in having weaker equipment to inhibit yourself, but as a specific game mode), but you refuse to take it?
Also, for people who would use Easy Mode as a tactic, would you say that you really want a hard game for its challenge, or do you simply like the accomplishment of defeating a supposedly difficult game using the the easiest method, regardless of how much the game actually challenges you outside of setting up your character(s) and equipment to be as strong as possible?
*NOTE/tl;dr*Just to be clear, I am not asking whether or not an easy mode should be in the game, just whether or not you would use it as a tactical advantage and then claim that a game lacks difficultly.

Now then; I use easy mode sometimes to speed through my backlog, but I don't use it as a strategy, and I wouldn't ***** about being able to use it later. Because that would be retarded :3

Oh the silliness is quite delightful.
Singleplayer is not about tactic and it is not about difficulty, it is only ever about your experience, and if you decide to shit on your own fun time that is entirely your problem... and it is very likely you have severe self hate issues.

The only real question for singleplayer is will the game let me adjust it to my preference or will I go somewhere else.

Part of the fun in video games is challenging yourself. As long as there're at least two difficulty settings, one of them will always be easy-er than the next. It's all very relative. No need to suffer over a difficuly setting, there's enough real problems out there to fill your mind with. Like accidentally erasing your save file.
