Anyway, I refer to ED-E as 'it' most of the time but, I sometimes slip and refer to ED-E as 'he'

The only reason someone would assign gender to a robot is if they spoke a language that required it or if they needed to know whether or not to wank off to said robot. There are absolutely no other reasons for it.

Unless it's painfully obvious like with a robot that actually looks like a girl, there shouldn't be an implied sex to it.

now i perfectly understand assigning a gender to a robot if it atleast resembled humans (looks kinda human-shaped, talks, etc) but this is just a flying ball that "beeps" and "boops" occasionally

I generally refer to ED-E as a "her," mainly because of the way I choose to pronounce her name (ee-dee), which just sounds feminine to me. I'm not sure why I chose to pronounce it that way, though. I guess it just sounded better to me than calling the adorable flying robot companion something as dull as "Eddie."

I said "it", because it's a robot and does not have a gender. Frankly i'm surprised more people said "her" than "him" though. Their name's ED-E, obviously intended to sound like Eddy, which is usually a male name.
