Every year people get excited over E3, fanboys yell at eachother about how their faceless corporate entity is better than your faceless corporate entity and a fun time is had by all.
The question is, now that we have the internet is E3 really necessary?
E3 came into being when there was no internet and people got their gaming info from magazines. Now that we have the internet gaming info is sent from developers to various places and we get it through the grapevine.

Do you think E3 should continue to exist? Do you have an argument for why/why not? Do tell.

I don't really care. I don't pay much attention to it, because, well, I get the gaming news here. It doesn't matter to me either way.

E3 isn't really a conference for the consumers it's more of a conference for the stockholders, and journalists.

No E3??? But then where would the booth babes go???

Yes, it's the best time before Christmas. I love getting to see all the press conferences. Especially the Forza 3 announce. (knew it was coming, but awesome nonetheless)

E3 is a chance do display new technology and gives companies a date to work towards. It's got to be good for the industry...

I personally enjoy it. If you feel intimidated by the fanboys, then you shouldn't bother watching it quite simply, otherwise it is a time which marks the release of new game information or gameplay, and it brings about a more proffessional image to the world of gaming as a whole.

It's nice that our hobby gets a little glitz and glamour once in a while, instead of parents and demented lawyers blaming it for the world's evils.

Using that logic, we shouldn't have things like the Sundance Film Festival, because we can just watch the movies on the 'nets.

You can shut down the Sundance Film Festival when you pry it from my cold, undead fingers.

Videogames are a practically explosive industry now, and that's reflected by advertisements in theaters, celebrity endorsements, and of course, lavish and overdone conventions and festivals.

We can but books online and watch movies for free, but we still have book signing events and movie theaters and, as Flying-Emu said, film festivals. that's just the way it goes. A little glitz and glamor never hurt anyone.

Yes. I'm one of those strange people who enjoy getting hyped, though.

They would fall into the net of Anime and Comic-cons still they are used up of their beauty and spat out like some tobacco, sobbing over the loss of their profession.

Kids this has been an important message brought to you by HardRockSamurai and Marv21 productions....remember kids E3 is just the gateway convention!
