And the best think about the long one in ME 1 is that you got the feeling that The Citadel was HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I liked the feeling. And the conversation between members were usually funny and interesting.
But "elevators" can't be placed in every game. For example strategy games (SC2). I can't think of anything that would be interesting and wouldn't break the game flow. And since it will break the flow, isn't it simpler to make it shorter by focusing on loading instead of mini-games?
Red Steal 2 was a great attempt, but Wii's power (or was it due the loading form a disk?) wasn't enought to load it faster, so the endless opening of 1 door was annoying (although still better then loading, pls wait).
