Yeah, they're great. I dunno, these games aren't generating profit anymore. If it weren't for emulators and roms I would never be able to play these games at all (although I would be happy to pay a couple bucks for some of them).

Emulators are a good idea. Take for example the fact that I'm able to play the NES version of FFIII and then compare it to the FFIII DS version.

An easy way to remember great old games without having to sacrafice an extra power socket or shelf space. Or money.

i'm in two minds about it, while it can bring a new fan to a game they would otherwise not paly then its good, but the people who grab any rom they can find make me sick.

Ultimatly its not the Emulation, or the game, its the person.

I dislike outright pirates though, I wouldn't like my works to be stolen from me, with the attitude of of "i deserve this" from the perp.

Also, I can't find "Zombies ate my neighbours" anywhere unless I use roms, which is the greatest game ever!.

Awesome-o! I'm playing Ocarina of Time on my laptop right now. It's even better if you can get the apps so you can use the proper controllers (and better still if you can get it to work...).

That being said; keyboard controls suck for games with lots of buttons...

Oh yeah, if it wasn't for my SNES and GBA emulators, I would never have got to play Earthbound and Mother 3. ^_^
(Or the first Conker's BFD...)

Oh and, just to brag; I have every N64 game on my laptop thanks to my bro. :D

As a child I was too poor to afford a Mega Drive or SNES, so these emulators are one of the only ways I can play these games. I'd happily pay for them if they were available at retail, but alas, they are not.

I would have never experienced half of the fantastic older games that I have but for emulation. Terranigma would have escaped me.

Emulators are great, so long as they aren't used for recent games (Although it takes no less than a bloody military super computer to run anything younger than the PS1), or for games that aren't avialable on the market (Final Fantasy 1) or in your country (I'm looking at you, Super Robot Wars ;]), anything else is just wrong, and DOES hurt the gaming economy. But apart from that, the're awesome.

Emulators are yet another reason fir why the Pc will never Die. They are a great idea, allowing people to revist classics they want to see again. I ahve tried to use them twice, but always failed due to me losing interest and forgetting about them. BUt if you have an low end machine you still have acces to thousands of gems if you can cope with the graphics

I dunno where I could buy some of these games I play on my emulator so it has no impact on the industry.

how else was I supposed to play super punch out and contra? I love emulators, so long as they are not riddled with viruses like the one i downloaded a while back.

Speaking from a person who use to be part of the occult spriting community. They're not just cool, but necessary. It's an awesome way to relive the past.

The reason most recent games don't workvia emulator isn't because of some advanced super technology. Console hardware by their nature (yes even the 360 and PS3) is inferior to PC hardware. The reason its hard to get them working is because of compatibility issues. Games were developed for one specific hardware set. IF you don't have that hardware set, its a ***** to get them working. The more modern a game is, the more the hardware is proprietary.
