Let's use a fun scenario i just thought up of.

Suppose the answer for all the fuel of the world turns out to be _____, it's easy to make and transport, however, it's main ingredient is human blood. Not many volunteer but a loophole in the system (assuming you live in the U.S.) allows for practically an unlimited supply: Using prison inmates blood to derive the formula. How would you feel about this?

Why, when we have the sun firing energy at us? I think it would be better to convert to a highly accessible, almost unlimited source of energy that doesn't have harmful consequences to people.

What you are suggesting merely shifts the problem from one group of people to another, and that doesn't really offer much of a solution to the worlds problems.

...Why not just use people who are terminally ill? Or when someone is extremely close to death, just drain their blood? No need to use healthy people, convicts or not.

As of right this moment I'm the only one who says they can't do that. I'm an idealistic fool though.

No, not because it is immoral but because that blood could be used to actually save lives. Free transportation is only 2 feet away.

There's already heaps of energy solutions available, the easiest which would be solar-thermal (not to be confused with solar panels, which are shit). Solar energy accounts for over 99.9% of all the earth's "free energy", and only a very tiny fraction of the world's land mass would be needed to power 100% of the world's current energy requirements. No need to go harvesting blood just yet.

prisoners are taken care of with tax payer money so why not get some use out of them that doesn't involve them just picking up trash and digging trenches?

I'd lay it out as an option to outside labor.

No, in most situations - including this one - they do not. If we do something like this, we may as well play football with babies.

Not the best way to get renewable energy, but.....if it were true then I would be for it. There would have to be some sort of process that screened prisoners and factored in their crimes and sentences into the selection process.

Do it. But only with death row prisoners. If you run out, use rapists, child molesters, and violent repeat offenders.

We could just use Frenchmen instead.

That way we don't even have to think about the moral choice

how is this even a question that need to be asked.. killing someone just so you can power a vehicle?
never said anything about killing people. just taking a pint of blood like they do at a drive. i wonder if this is why people got so pissed?
