So I come across this post at a web site I frequent, and it got me thinking about the things people do that make me want to grab them by the shoulders and shake them until their brains leak out their ears, all the while screaming until my eyeballs bleed about how unbelievably, painfully retarded they are. (I'm still working through some issues from my career in retail.) I mean for real, that's the whole fucking reason the money has watermarks in it now, so how could anyone still be stupid enough to fall for that? I've held a counterfeit bill in my hands; even high quality fakes aren't that hard to spot. Here's another one: http://notalwaysright.com/shoulda-filled-it-with-apples/617

So lemme hear it. What are some of the things people do that make you fear for the future of humanity? Or if you want to argue against me, what are some things that show humanity still has some hope?

Her you go. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.70218] Good night.

EDIT: Note, not deja-naziing, that's just the best thread ever (except the cockney thread).

I recall several threads like this from earlier on.

I'll say what I said in those threads. Humans aren't any dumber. It's just that with the arrival of the internet, the stupidity of humans is much more obvious.

Humanity is doomed to destroy itself out of fear. The more ignorant people get, the more fearful they are. Nukes + Religion = Our Destination.

People= stupid.
Anonymous people = stupid[sup]2[sup]2[sup]...you get it[/sup][/sup][/sup]
Anonymous people + connection to tons of other anonymous people = the above to the infinite power.

I've just given up on the species as a whole, and this way, I'll be happy no matter what. While the occasional bit of complete idiocy can still put me in a daze, most of the time knowing that people are retarded and will act as such keeps me going without too much concern.

Um, why is there an option to move out to the Ozarks? That is probably the least desirable place to be.
It was the most remote place I could think of off the top of my head. Substitute whatever sparsely-populated area you like. xD

People were always this dumb. Remember when it was uncommon for people to be educated? Because of the internet, we have more access to that stupidity. Dumb people express themselves too. Stupidity isn't a new problem: we're just more aware of it now.

The older I get, the more stupid people become.
This too. Children are naturally stupid. As you become an adult, you may gradually lose that stupidity.

People seem stupider because thanks to the internet and easier travel nowadays you see more stupid people. But think about all the people over the years who have lived their whole lives as peasants or serfs and never had a chance to show their intelligence (or lack of the same). Plenty of those people were probably as stupid as the people we see now. We just see stupid people more.

Youtube is the proof that humanity as a whole is without hope for the future.
Is it proof, or a cause? I'm not saying that we blame the various media sources in the world, but I find often that things like youtube are great artistic ideas when they start, but ultimately, you end up having to search long and hard to find anything that is truly artistic or actually good. People post a few stupid videos on youtube, hoping for their 15 internet minutes of fame, and reveal to the rest of the world just what a couple of twits they are. Some other twits see it and create their stupid video, some others see that, and so on and so forth.

I believe that humanity is stupid, but mostly those stupid people are teenagers. Hell, I'm still a teen and I'm still pretty stupid, even coming up on 20. And I tend to think that most people in our societies are about the same in this respect. We're all very stupid people for quite a while, and we really get the opportunity to let the world know through things like youtube.

So, what am I getting at? That people have always been stupid, are our generation is no different. Our problem is that with the internet, we have the horrid pleasure of watching the stupidity of our generation seconds after it happens.

Gulibility as a whole has grown. And the ability to have other people stupidity beamed to every household in the world doesn't help but people would probably be doing the naturally stupid things found online anyways and what is done on purpose is for attention whores. The friendly neighborhood attention whore, possilby a friend, a co-worker, or even you.

Depends what you regard as stupidity. Humans probably are getting smarter on average due to education.
Most people do beleave the world is round, which is a step in the right direction.
However that does not change the fact that the human race as a whole is as stupid as a race can be...

Unless you can show me another race as stupid as to compleatly doom itself.

Not even that, I just keep finding more examples of human stupidity. Every day I lose just a bit more faith in humanity as a whole.

notalwaysright.com doesn't help either.
