I've seen the thread about the escapism meet-up in Sydney, and I thought it looked like a good idea. Pity I couldn't go cos of the small mater of being in the wrong hemisphere...

Anyway, I was wondering what the reaction would be if I suggested an Escapism UK, for those Englishmen (and women) who could make it to Australia

Good idea or bad idea?

Prove to me that a substantial portion of escapist members live in england(Above 25%) and I will agree. Up to that point I disagree because every member from every tiny obscure country will want their own event.

Edit. Does no one realise that I am not serious. Oh dear.

Definitely a good idea :) I actually posted something about such an idea on Labyrinth's Escapism Sydney thread yesterday, so I think it's an idea most UK users are agreeing with. Especially since we haven't had one so far, while Australia and the US have both had their own Escapisms before now. I reckon there'll be a lot of support for this, provided it was somewhere accessible for everyone (so perhaps nearer the Midlands or Central England).

I think it'd be good. There's lots of the Escapist people in Britain, so as long as it was somewhere that everyone could easily get, I'd say go for it.

...I'm going to make the following post assuming that isn't a joke. If it is, well done to you sir.

What the hell would be wrong with that? Are people in less populated countries not allowed to meet up because there's only four or five of them (hell, there could be 20-50 if you're saying above 25%) on a bloody website? Or are you offended at the concept of dirty foreigners having the pretentiousness of using the site for something that doesn't include you?

Ahem. Apologies, everyone. On topic. I'd say it is a pretty good idea, since there are a lot of Brits here, but I'm not sure how mobile we all are.

But it was a joke.

I'd go if I could afford traveling tu the UK, but sadly, this isn't the case. It's a great idea though.

Great idea, but you've gotta put it in a place which is easily accessible so everyone (including me) can come. But sounds like a brilliant!

Damn, I wish I lived in England instead of here, in Australia, so I could go to this Escapism. Curse living in the Southern Hemisphere!

Well, if we'd do it in Belgium (or if the Dutch populace would want to do it too), it wouldn't be too hard to mobilize. At all.

And why the fuck not? If they want it, let them organise it. Each to their own.

By the way there's an eery sense of deja vu [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.85652] about this. Get off your damn Brit backsides and do something already. It's not that hard.

So where would be good for everyone? London would be ideal for me, and there's direct planes and trains from most major cities, but it seems to me that a lot of escapists come from the midlands and north, so maybe Birmingham or Manchester?

I suggest you edit the original post. Otherwise people keep quoting you for ages, and it gets really annoying. I had the same problem on another post.

Good to hear all the enthusiasm =D

Any suggestions for locations? (I might make a poll for that too)
