Poll: Escapist App?

I just keep thinking how great it would be able to access the more high-end (ie video) content on my iPhone (or any smart phone), plus you could have all the articles, comics, forums all easily accessible in one App.

Rooster teeth have one for their website content, so why not the escapist?

Why would a smart-phone need an app to view the content on the escapist? Anything content that's freely available via the webpage is easily accessible in browser for any competent smart-phone. So no, even if an app was developed I wouldn't buy or use it.

All smart phones come with an internet connection of which I can view the Escapist from (Heck, I've done it a few times from an Ipod) so why the heck would I need to buy an app to do what is already free?

But anyway, I would say no, because you can visit for free on smart phones, and the only reason to pay is if you want to join the Publisher's Club. And even then, that would be one time.

This is why you're broke. If you've bought it on a contract, you'll be even more broke at the end of it. It's people who are buying repressive, deliberately crippled devices running sub-par operating systems who are holding back programming. Frankly, I don't believe that any developer should ever have to waste their time on that POS programming language called Objective-C.

My phone doesn't need an application to view the video content on The Escapist, because I didn't buy a mediocre device with a terrible operating system made by a company which doesn't want to support the most common video format on the internet.

I was trying to phrase it nicer, but say basically the same thing. Last time I looked at Sprint they had a dismal network in the are, and offered few good phones at horrible prices. I took another look at them and they have since beefed up their network in the are and offered the best deals on network access, some truly great phones and all for about $40 less per month then I would be paying for similar from Verizon (AT&T doesn't even offer unlimited data anymore).

Sprint was even nice enough to wave the activation fee, drop the extra $10 per month the EVO usually costs and throw in a free gel case because I don't live in an area with 4G access, yet they never limited me from accessing 4G.

All in all I was presently surprised, and if the service and support stays as good as it has been I'm staying a customer.

I have no problems at all viewing the videos through the browser.

No. What I think would be better is a mobile version of the site. Wider variety of phones, not excluding the WP7/Android market in the process. Only problem there is that ads and mobile don't go well together.

I was subtly making the point that unhacked iphones (and, compared to the other, far superior, far cheaper devices on the market even the most expertly hacked pre-iphone 4 iphones) are objectively worse than other brands of smartphones, many of which are considerably older than the apple counterpart. At any rate, doesn't that HTML 5 cop out Apple Inc pulled promise to fix the complete inability to process one of the most common languages? Or have I not judged them harshly enough....

As many of you had pointed out, Ads don't like working on mobile devices, so why not have adds in an App? according to my silly inane poll, most people would like an app. So why not?
