I know this is a little late for 2008 but a lot of people have been talking about some bad Game of the Year choices, and sense no one really said 'Let's see what the forum thinks deserves Game of the Year', I thought we could hold out own little vote. (All the the threads I found were just asking for people opinions.) So this is serious: What game do you think deserves our awesome title?

You get one week to vote! Polls close next Saturday! (The 28th)

(Sorry if your choice didn't make the list. I just put together what was usually the nominees for companies that give out the award.)

I Enjoyed Grand Theft Auto 4, even if the series did jump into the Gritty Sea. It still had that "Just Kidding" Hilarity to it,

Basically on one Hand you have Dimitri, Crime Lord Super Genius and Betrayeral of the Year.

And then there is Bruice, the Steriod Junkie with Aspirations to write his Own Self-Help Book.

In my oppinon the two balance out eachother.

I saw the GOTY bit and it made me think back to the times when we had the Time machine and I sat in the front room playing Unreal Tournament Game of the Year addition on it listening to loud music, good times...

Anyways, I went for Fallout 3. It was a close call between that or Left for Dead.

Fallout 3 was epic. I wasted so many hours playing it.
Aw, those weren't wasted hours!
Yeah, I guess that's right.
I would post how many hours I've racked up on Fallout 3 but someone might try to section me.
I don't know how much I have, I'm thinking somehwere near 250 hours. And that isn't even the most. I spent 600 hours on pokemon before and 370 hours on SSBB.
Ok now I don't feel so bad.. I have three chatacters, two with 60 hours each and one with 30.

And i still havent blown up megaton!

I hate having two or more different types of characters/save files. I just play one file and do whatever I would do.
The reasons I went back and started new characters were thus:

I wanted to max out my big guns skill

I wanted to try being evil (it didn't work though I was too sappy)

I thought we went over this in December with Ezra Pound's megathread and decided on Fallout 3.

In my opnion, being evil always feel boring. And with a game like fallout 3, which has states that shape your character in fields like science and medicine, I want to make my character as close to me in real-life as possible.
ditto! although my real life self is not very proficient with nuclear bomb launchers

Saint's Row 2.

For me it was the most fun game of 2008.

I didn't have to get myself in the right mood for it, and it didn't ever become oppressively bleak or lead to a numbing sense of boredom after playing it for too long, it's was just pure, easily accessible, pick up and play fun on tap.

It would be between L4D and MGS4 for me, which is odd considering one has no plot and the other has the magnitude of eleven plots.

I'll go for Left 4 Dead. As an experience, I enjoyed MGS4 more, but as a GAME with which you have FUN, I say L4D. Fallout 3 is third (I didn't quite enjoy it like others did)
