Nice idea. Try contacting one of the mods around here and presenting the idea. Pros would be exactly as you described them. Another con might be that you get 20 different thread on the same part of a game [but then, you get similar occurrences in any other forum here anyway].

Well maybe for more popular games there could be an official [game]thread where anyone looking for help on that game can post their questions or see if someone else has already asked it and got an answer.

Fair point. It would certainly eliminate repeat threads. However, some people may not bother with having a look around for an answer within the thread.

I'd support it; I'd never use it though because I'm the type who wouldn't let a game beat him - I'd stay there and complete it honestly no matter what. However I can see it being very useful for people so I'm behind it.

I'd go for it. I think gaming discussion and specific gaming advise are different enough to be two separate forums.

It's funny, I never find thier threads very useful to be honest. They seem to end very quickly and I rarely get the answer I need.

Then again I'm not a member, they just come up a lot in google searches.

I am a member, have been for a very long time. And while the community is pretty bad for the most part (there's good and there's bad of course, it's just that there's more bad than usual), I've always found it a great place to get help with games, or to get certain questions you might have about games answered.

Fair enough, as I said I'm not a member and it's probably easier to get a good answer when you are.

Still, it has certainly helped me with one or two questions I've had.

Really? I always find it useless.
Ask a question on most games "How do you do/get X?"
All that happens is you get a post by people saying one of two things either "you suck" or "use the search bar" So you use the searchbar, which normally I do every time beforehand, what do you find upon searching? Several identical topics with "Use the searchbar" and nothing else even though the topic was never fucking answered even once in the damned forums. Oh and there's always the "I searched the FAQs and couldn't find the answer.." posts that still get people going on rants about how you're obviously a retard because you didn't check the FAQ first.

I guess it depends a lot on what game-specific board you're on since some boards can be pretty hostile while others are very friendly, or maybe it depends on the way you're asking, but I honestly have almost never encountered stuff like that myself. I've sometimes asked questions and not gotten the answer I was looking for (especially on less active boards), but on the whole almost every question I asked there did get answered.

Maybe I'm just lucky.

Haha, some of that sounds a little familiar to these boards too... people can get very uppity about the search bar when in fact the searches show up nothing.
