Is this the first time you've seen a _TXT Twitter account?
I'm afraid to say, yes it is.

There are more of these?
Yes.

And Escapist_TXT is probably the tamest and least terrifying one I've seen.

Don't read Tumblr_TXT or any 4chan subforum's _TXT. They're enough to turn a Disney character into a misanthrope.

I didn't know about these accounts until this thread, but here:

Come, and together we shall learn about the wonders of the Internet.

What!? No no no no. Unacceptable. We misanthropes take pride in what we are, we can't have those...those happy-go-lucky diabetes inducing characters come into our club and say they're one of us! A true misanthrope doesn't hate people because they say stupid shit, a true misanthrope just hates people, period. YOU HAVE NO PLACE HERE IF THERE WAS A MOMENT AT ANY POINT IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU DID NOT HATE PEOPLE.

I shall now compile and propose an exceedingly complicated and elaborate checklist to be used to determine whether or not anyone's "misanthrope cred" is sufficient. Seriously, those folks coming in, diluting our proud culture, what do they think they are *sneer*

Though I do quite agree with

I mean, it might be a slightly amusing waste of time, but come on. That's like me listening in on other people's conversation and then posting what they said...I mean, okay, I did maybe kind of sort of put a couple things on NotAlwaysRight, but that's entirely different and totally not hypocritical!

Pretty amusing. The Escapist gets mentioned by people on various sites. Deadhorse Interchangeable, RPG Codex, Reddit, Zeel's blog, etc.

One of the first comments I saw on that Tali'Zorah name article Kotaku did, was someone lamenting how terrible the forums and it's users are.

So, can't say I'm suprised by this. But I also think it's not a big deal.

Kotaku? Where Gawker also is? Where the users continually lament its not legal to kill people for some random trumped up reason they created in their heads? Even Kotaku gets pretty iffy from time to time.

How is our forums worse? I found multiple death threats in the comments over there. They try to doxx everyone at the drop of a hat. Even in Kotaku users get very upset for no reason and take it out on the article creators.

If I posted the real life details of another Escapist user in hopes of ruining their life or even possibly killing them, I would get banned for life. There wouldn't even be an option to appeal. Topaz Fusion would agree with that. It would be almost impossible to come back if I blew up at a mod or writer here the way Kotaku users do.

The worst we ever did was whine, some other forums take it into real life. I don't think our forums warrant a "terrible" title.
Kotaku is a click-bait article circus in my opinion. Anyway. Nothing truly terrible ever happens here. But The Escapist is generally perceived as either being elitist or having too much iron-fisted moderation. Neither of which are true.

I don't think before I post, nor do I think before I speak. Or write. Fuck you, myself.

I'm not sure if I've been quoted on it, and really, I don't want to be. The idea of being on Twitter without my permission, for whatever reason, chills me to the bone.

Condescension? Nah. Not really. I guess you could look at it that way. Seems like a copy and paste experiment to me. Like putting a magnifying glass on certain posts. Not even mildly worth getting worked up about. Besides, it's users here that wrote the quotes, not whoever is running the twitter account.

Honestly, I don't think they need your permission. Technically speaking, anything you post here is in a public setting.

I don't get the joke, is there supposed to be a joke here?
Some of the posts are highlighting little slices of ignorance, some of the posts seem to be deliberately removing context for the purpose of humour, some of the posts are just mocking those of different beliefs.

The inconsistency is confusing.

Meh, in any case, if this is the worst that can be picked out from these forums then this must be one of the most civil message boards on the internet.

I've enjoyed the various _TXT twitter feeds that I know of. Escapist_TXT, Reddit_TXT and my personal favourite, tumblr_TXT. There are others but those are the ones I follow. A certain narcissistic side of me looks forward to the day I say something stupid enough to be featured on there.

It'll happen one day, I'm sure of it.

And these are just the forums, there's crazier stuff in the user groups.
Also is this community that notorious in the greater scheme of the internet?
Also also, I wonder if any quotes from this particular thread will be in there.
/v/ of 4chan often looks down on The Escapist but that's more directed at the newsies here who are often slow, misinformed or take the news they post out of context or post with an obvious bias.

See, what you did just now is called "necroposting." That's replying to a thread that's been dead for months. It's generally frowned upon.
