Never been there myself, but I'm hoping for it in the future. Unfortunately, I live in Sweden. If you've been there, please do tell.

No, and voted don't want to.

I thought it'd be really cool but then I realize that it would just be littered with people I don't give a damn about, and game trailers of pre-rendered cinematics.

I'm sure I'd have a good time but have an empty feeling when looking back at it.

Yes, several times.

It's changed. The old, glory days of extravagance has gone, and a toned down, professional atmosphere is all that is left. I remember back when you could go and come out holding bags and bags of swag. Gigantic 360 degree screens covering half of a room displaying Nintendo products, booths that cost a company at least a million or more to host (I'm not kidding), and the throngs of video game fans pushing to get a glimpse at the cool stuff they love.

Now it's more of a professional environment where games and technologies are shown, but not extravagantly as before. It's no longer the location to find the who's who of the industry, but more of a legacy convention to still promote networking between industry professionals.

Thus,
Old E3 = showy, celebrities, semi-naked girls
New E3 = GDC wanna-be
