Recently, i've been noticing my lack of being able to sense and feel what i am and what is around me.
It's like a void inside my head where I don't really feel like I have thought at all nor do i know anything basic...It's very annoying, especially when you're in the middle of an intellectual conversation...

I dunno...it just feels like i keep dropping out and lagging inside my head and i dont know why.

Is this a common thing? Or is it something specifically related to aspergers symdrome (which I am diagnosed with).

Please let me know as it makes me feel so very very sad.

Spacing out? Yeah, I've done that.

Most often, I'll space out, start imagining other places, and realize I'm staring at the spot where I am.

Yeah, you're losing concentration, or as Zetsubou said

You need to eat more Frosted Shredded Wheat, for the magical talking cereal guy says it helps buid concentration.

It's not related to Aspergers. Aspergers is simply the rewiring of the brain so it thinks differently from your average person, it doesn't affect you physically in many ways.

As for the sensation, it usually happens to me when I've had too much sugar or hopped up on adrenaline. Usually when this sensation occurs I notice I don't tire. or feel pain or weight as easily.

I think I know what you're talking about. Like, you're doing research or whatnot, and then, out of nowhere, ten minutes have passed and you realize you've just been staring at an empty screen the entire time?

I hate that feeling SO MUCH.

'course, I've got ADD, so that may just be me zoning out...

Hells yeah, I do the journey thing too xD, I'll be walking, and when I get to a certain place, I'll sorta think "Wait... How the heck did I get here?!?"

I forget certain words sometimes, never my own name though :0, hrmmm...

Though if you're seeing talking cereal in real life, you have bigger problems than loss of concentration.

Totally.

I feel like if I disappeared off the face of the Earth, the only people that would miss me are my Parents and 1 or 2 friends. WOW THAT SOUNDED SO FUCKING EMO! SORRY PEOPLE!

I also feel like I'm looking at my life from a third person perspective.

Basically, I think you suffer from a lack of self confidence. The only way to solve that (that I'm aware of) is to drink more. Thats how I deal with it anyways, it's a temporary measure, but a very effective one.

Also; In university lectures, everyone seems to "get it" but I dont always, and I have to do extra reading just to understand the basics. The sad thing is all my mates and my parents think I'm clever, but I'm actually stupid and lazy :D

This happens to me on an hourly basis, it seems. I think it just happens when whatever the hell you are supposed to be doing is really, really boring. I wouldn't think too much into this: wait until you start absentmindedly cutting your wrists while you zone out, then start worrying.

Wait, I need some clarification. Do you mean zoning out, like having your brain off and just realizing it, or do you mean having your brain on cruise control, having it do things that it's used to but not entire in control?

Because I've had both experiences.
