Poll: Ever had to replace a console?

MS has been pretty good about replacing my broken ones. I think I'm on my 5th right now but for the most part they have been prompt. I have never been waiting for more than 2 business weeks for one. Not bad all things considered I think.

Least is plays a good game. My brother destroyed the disk drive on my PS2 a few years back, I simply took his Gamecube from him. Not exactly equivalent exchange but eh least I could play something.

Xbox 360, one RROD-replaced, rwo RROd- refunded back at store.

PS1, the disc read gear malfuction! Twice! But not refunded as EB had a no questions asked replacement policy on PS1's suffering that fault (because it was piss easy to rectify).

Other than that none.

My PS3 got the YLOD a month ago.

I'm going to assume the YLOD is "Yellow Light Of Death" right? I've never heard of this; I've only heard of the RROD for 360.

I recieved a RRoD on my 360 twice now. The console worked fine after restarting. Both instances were caused by careless handling by my brother. This gives me the right to yell at him once the console RRoD's inexplicably and doesn't go off.

My Xbox 360 didnt work right the day I got it...It kept freezing in the middle of gameplay so I called MS and talked with a rather Indian fellow for 10-15 minutes and he sent a shipping label to my email and got a new xbox within that same week

Had to replace one PS2 after my brother wrenched it across the room while playing Guitar Hero 2. Had to replace the replacement because it wouldn't work at all.

My 360 laser died after 2 hard working years. I got a new one 3 days later lulz.


Hopefully this one can support my gaming addiction.

360 flatlined. Wasn't an RROD, instead it refused to read anything I put in the disc tray.

But, surprisingly enough, Microsoft customer support was courteous and helpful throughout the replacement process covered by the warranty; they're not yet on my shit list.

I've gone through three 360s. First one RRod'd a year after I got it. Dad opened it up and voided the warranty. Second one RRoD's a year and a half after purchase. The next one died before even playing it, we returned it to the store for a new one, and now the one I have has been dropped on a front porch and still works.
