I don't know if it was a great idea adding a poll to this and I'm not sure about the options but I can only add 8 at the most.
Well I was wondering if there were any other comic artists out there. I've always been pretty good at drawing, but when I aqcuired a wacom tablet I got even better and it got easier since I wouldn't smudge everything I drew. So I decided to try my hand at making a comic. I finished a ten page first chapter and I've been stuck on the second chapter for a few weeks. I've gotten kind of lazy.
Well, anyone else ever try this? Have any success? Get somewhat famous?
I'm just curious.

I'm going to be working on one based on a "What If" scenario of my guild in Gaia. It will only be posted on my DA though xD;

I've got the writing talent, but I'm no good at drawing. My hands can skillfully wield a wrench, a saw, a kitchen knife, an instrument, and a keyboard, but not a pencil. If I could find a friend that could draw well, however, I'd have a heyday.

For the average horse, every day is hay day. Doesn't it make you sick?

I was split between "Yes" and "I can't draw"

Fact is that I've done a few comics, but that doesn't mean I could draw if my life depended on it.

It's the dialogue it's about anyway, not the drawing ;)

I have numerous times although two ideas have ever really held my interests

a) a family of pulp superheroes including a holographic genius, a superman, an inventor, an elastic, a mimic and a telekinetic telepath

b) a section of the British government in Victorian England that deals with the scientifically inexplicable or supernatural. The team that deals with these investigations would include an immortal, a mystic, a cross dressing vigilante, an enchanted gargoyle, a cyborg, a spy, a ghost and a changeling

in truth I'm reserving the first idea in case I ever become a movie director

i feel your pain, unfortunately my drawing talent would make be named a wmd and placed in a warehouse underground where all highly dangerous virus's are kept.

I tired to make a manga once....

I got one character model done. He looked pretty awesome. Then I realized that I couldn't draw eyes. Or faces.

He had hair going over his eyes.

Then I realized I can't draw jack shit.

Yeah, i've made a comic. It was mainly something for the family. I'd say I'm a pretty funny guy and as for the illustrations I just said fuck it the crappier the drawing, the funnier it is. sadly this was before I aquired my comedic genius and all my jokes were dumb puns like wheres wolf being turned into omg a werewolf!??!?!

If only I could draw. I have plenty of great ideas but no way to ilistrate them.
here is my list of things I will probably never learn to do, but want too:
-play the guitar(good)
-draw
-ride a unicyle
-throw knives(I already do this but I suck at it)

Hopefully I'll actualy do something on the list this year(rideing a unicyle can wait).

I had to make one for Biology class in Freshman year of High School. It involved the genetic modification of fish. You know, they make those little glo-fish now...

Oh, I have. There were two problems with it though; I can't draw, and I can't write narratively or make jokes or anything, it was awful.

Actually about a year ago I started drawing a Halo comic. It actually wasn't all that bad, my only trouble with it was that I couldn't draw Hayabusa armor.

And it wasn't based off of the campaign, I just took my multiplayer charcter and my two friend's charcters and I made a story around it. But I did create one original character, it was a blind elite that lived in a dark tunnel under Sandtrap.

And seeing as how I can't write I was actually able to succesfully avoid using dialogue and stick with action. And I don't know how it worked but it felt like I didn't even need dialogue, like you were able to tell what was going on just by looking at the pictures.

Obviously you have never taken a close look at anything written by Alan Moore.

So, just write a script and shove it in enough people's faces until someone will draw it. It took Grant Morrison 2 years to get Arkham Asylum published.

OT: I have tried making a comic for a class and it ended up looking a lot like American Elf.

A comic is great if it has good drawings and good dialogue.

A comic is good if it has bad drawings and good dialogue.

A comic is bad if it has good drawings and bad dialogue.

Wouldn't you agree?

I always start them, get really pumper up about it, write out the whole story, start drawing the frames, get 3 in and give up.

I prefer doing concept art for comics than actually making them.
