As the fighting game aficionados among you may already know, tomorrow kicks off the first day of Evolution 2010, an international fighting game championship that, for all intents and purposes, amounts to the World Series of Street Fighter, Tekken, Meltyblood and the VS. games.

Those of you who don't follow the scene closely probably know of EVO through the infamous Daigo Umehara video:

This year is pretty significant. For the first time ever, G4TV (yeah, yeah, I know) is going to be providing live streaming coverage of the event in its entirety. I'll be the first to admit that G4 is more or less a shadow of its formal self, but this can't be a bad thing. Given the touch-and-go quality of past EVO streaming attempts, G4's participation could lend some necessary tech and legitimacy to the entire operation. If you'd like to follow the stream, you can find it here [http://g4tv.com/EVO].

And, of course, EVO 2010 is going to be hosting the first playable build of Marvel vs Capcom 3 ever released. It's not likely to be the final version, as the release of the game is so far off, but just seeing it in action is bound to be interesting.

Anyway, getting back on topic:
I don't know how many Escapists follow the fighting game scene, but with the tournament starting tomorrow, I just have to ask; is anyone here participating? Anyone heading out to watch? Planning to watch the stream, maybe? Are you for America or Japan? Stick or pad? Ultra I or Ultra II?

Oh, and here's the schedule of events for reference:

I'm not interested, I would rather play the games myself then watch some people play them on TV.

I'm all the way in London, so I'm not going, I'm just going to be a stream monster. The time difference won't make it easy to watch but hopefully I catch some good matches.
I'm rooting for an American (Justin Wong) to win it really, just because they speak English and so I'm more interested in the American scene than the Japanese one.

Really I couldn't care much less about TvC or Melty Blood (I've never even heard of this game before now). But I'd like to see as much as I can from Street Fighter 2 and 4, Tekken 6 and Marvel.
