I'm participating in a game of this tomorrow as a continuation of an awesome campaign I'm part of and just wondered if this game had any fans here on The Escapist.

For those of you not clued in on this RP setting I shall link to this [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exalted], because there is a great deal to explain about it that would create an incredible wall of text.

There have been quite a few D&D discussion threads but none about this game if the search button is to be believed.

So what do you like and dislike about the game of Exalted?

What is your favourite race and caste of exalt to play?

Any epic stunts or adventures you'd care to share?

How would you rate it against other RP games?

I personally love playing as an Infernal Savage at the minute. You get some evil artefacts and charms that blow most Solar ones out of the water. I'd probably rate Exalted as my favourite game at the minute due to the exquisitely crafted campaign I'm taking part in being very enjoyable.

Also I feel the best things about it are the incredibly epic and deep setting it is given with a lot of ambiguity actually surrounding the "good" and "evil" of the world a lot of the time. Plus the potential for huge battles and outrageous combat stunts are great fun too.

Edit: Wow 30 views and no replies, guess people don't like Exalted on here...

Wow, I guess I missed this thread. If I had seen it, I most certainly would have posted in it.

I have never actually played Exalted, but I have a bunch of the first edition books. My friends aren't really into pen & paper roleplaying, so I haven't had a chance to try it out. It looks really fun, though, and the setting is amazingly cool. I recently dragged out all my books and have just enjoyed reading about the world.

I voted for the Solars - they're so badass, and it says right there in all the books that they are the mightiest of all the Exalted. But all the others are awesome in their own ways, too - I just picked up a copy of the Infernal guidebook and they're pretty awesome. I love the whole concept about the Yozi being the fallen primordials of old and being twisted into the demons of the current age - I eat up all of the stuff about demons and the like that I can.

So how did your game go, wewontdie? Would you recommend actually playing? I have heard that the rules system can be a little unwieldy, but I think it'd still be fun.

I read on the official Exalted message board awhile ago about this one player's Exalt - his main goal was to get everyone in Creation to worship a bowl of rice, so that the spirits of those particular grains of rice in that particular bowl would become the mightiest gods in existence. Pretty funny. I wonder how far he got with that...

Oh hell ys I'd recommend playing. It's so much better than almost anything else I've played including D&D.

Ended up fighting the Silver Prince, if you've read about him, and one of the group getting turned into a medical experiment. The GM has taken a brief hiatus though, and I'm going to run a game of my own for a few sessions now, see how that goes.

My mate who is on those forums quite a lot told me an awesome one about some guy who's motivation it was to cleave everything. His thing for blocking was "blocking is just another form of cleaving" I think.

I tried to find the link and failed, but that post had me lol'ing for like 20 minutes.

Haha, nice. I think that was in the same thread.

I'll have to ask around at some local game stores and see if anybody ever runs any Exalted games...

It's a shame that it's not a more popular game, but if you can find some guys to play with I urge you do to so. It's always a laugh with my group, and I know that this image is actually Guts from Berserk...

Sweet pic, and I'm surprised it isn't actually from Exalted, what with what looks like an oricalchum daiklave and all... and that's one of the complaints I hear a lot of: huge dice pools. I can see how that would be annoying.

I read online awhile ago that... Sega, I think? bought the rights to make an Exalted video game. What are your thoughts on that? I'm optimistic, as I always am when I hear something I like might become a video game. But, it would kind of suck if it became an MMO, which is what everyone seems to want to make these days...

It's not so annoying when you first start out, although on some combat rolls you can still be rolling upwards of 15 dice, but when you start building charm combos that's when it gets silly and you end up rolling like 25-30 dice just to hit somebody.

We ran out and used an online dice roller...

An MMO would be bad because it wouldn't suit the setting. Too many warring factions to make an MMO out of it as most MMOs tend to only have two. Plus I wouldn't buy it if it was. A normal RPG where you play as a Solar against The Realm and the Deathlords would be great. Hell you could make a massive series of very in depth RPGs with the stuff you've got to work with, creation and the wylde are massive. You could even end up taking down the Unconquered Sun eventually, who knows.

I don't know what type of RPG you'd class it as though because Exalted has a lot of oriental influences but at it's core still seems very westernised in terms of the weaponry and armour etc.

I reckon an PVP focused MMO featuring the Blood War between the Abyssal powers and Infernal lords would be rather cool.

It was Interplay. They were going to do an Action RPG with it, but then they went bankrupt. (Keep in mind, this was before 2nd Ed.)

There was also a CCG from White Wolf in the works, but it also folded before release.

I'm a BIG fan of White Wolf Pub (mainly for their VtM PnP taletop games, but still this looks interesting. Do you know whereabouts I could get a copy of said PnP game (Exalted)?
Also a thread about the origins of gaming (tabletop RPGS)/ Very classy!

My mate has a load of harback books including the 2nd ed, Infernals, Abyssals and Lunars that he got from a local Waterstones I think, but if you want I could link you to the place I downloaded them?

As much as I love my Solar Nightcaste character, the Sidreal are by far the most fun to play. It takes a great deal of work with the storyteller to do it right, but the combination of messing with fate and sidreal martial arts is pure joy to play if done right.

Don't they have a dodge charm that is along the lines of "You dodge, in fact you weren't there, you were never there, you were sipping margaritas on the southern beaches the whole time."?

Yes, but it needs to be used within 10 rounds (or minutes, something like that)after the battle starts. My favorite stealth charm is "Blinding the Boar's Eye". Your enemies take your essence in difficulty penalties to anything combat related. Attack, Dodge, Parry, ect. And then there is the entire Charcoal March of Spiders. Cannot beat Pattern Spider Touch.

Sidreal - "You were once a nasty enemy, but now you do not exist."
- roll dice -
enemy - "Darn." -poof, he no longer exists.-

Sidreal - "I need a sword. Chair, you are now a sword."
- Roll dice -
Chair is now a sword.

Granted, those are rather advanced and insanely powerful examples. CMoS requires you to *master* a basic martial art before you even get to sniff it. . . but in a long running campaign it gets to be interesting.

Well, that kinda sucks. So no video game version, I guess. But, that also means no shitty video game version, either. Imagine what a company like BioWare could do, though... *stares dreamily into the distance*
