Wow, it's been a long time since I wrote a thread. Anyways, down to business:

So over the last couple of years it's been increasingly harder to get games at a bargain, (short of buying from eBay) especially for myself. With the local Gametraders closing down and the local JB HiFi and GAME matching their prices with EB to stay afloat, not to mention it being quite difficult to actually get there (fuck you, Sydney transport), I find myself in need of purchasing from EB Games to be able to keep my identity as a gamer. I've always seen that Xbox 360 games should go for under $100, though EB deems it necessary to charge $108 for each new game but perhaps I shouldn't be surprised, for when new Xbox Originals came out they would go for $100 a pop.

But now I'm seeing EB Games presenting new editions exclusive to their store along with the extra preorder content. Here [http://www.ebgames.com.au/search?title=brink] are [http://ebgames.com.au/sale-product-1113-home-Portal-2-The-Cube-Edition] some [http://www.ebgames.com.au/search?title=Duke+Nukem+Forever%3a+King+Edition] examples [http://www.ebgames.com.au/search?title=Red+Faction%3a+Armageddon+Collector%27s+Edition] of what I'm talking about. Suffice it to say, I think EB is genuinely trying to make the extra charge worth your while (though, there's always EB Game's price match), I mean who doesn't like free stuff? I'm okay with spending a little extra for the convenience of a closer location and when it comes to more free stuff, the rest is gravy.

So, anyone up for some shopping at EB or do you still think they're ripping us off blindly?

If I really REALLY want a game I'll buy it at the release date, no matter when. And if I don't I'll just buy it used, but I avoid EB Games when possible.

i usually do... prices between retailers don't vary THAT much, and EB has a better refund policy... there was a time when the same $100 bought me about 5 games, just through continually refunding and exchanging... might be an abuse of the system, but the first 4 games were refund-worthy anyway, so it scarcely matters

I do. I never shop at GAME, despite it being about the same distance away, because they (or, at least that branch) don't test their pre-owned games or consoles.

I mean, sure, you take a risk with pre-owns, but you know there is a problem when the game doesn't make it past the opening logo.

The closest EB games is 50 minutes away in another city entirely, so I never shop there nor do I need to. Exclusive stuff can go stuff itself.

Not realy up to date on all info since i dont shop at EB games myself however if they have a price guarantee you do realize it probably becomes void if they have exclusive editions? Most price guarantees, for good reason, require the price match to be the EXACT same product so my guess is their "special" editions is just a dirty way of avoiding the price match altogether.

I live in Castle Hill and the buses are pretty bad. 'Cause we don't have a railway line near the buses are the only way to properly get around and I guess that the idea of sitting at a bus stop for a hour each time I go to buy a game isn't very appealing.

You're probably right about this, though because everyone in my area are forced to match up to Eb's prices, I'm pretty much indifferent it.

I get all my games online from OzGames Shop. If you're willing to wait a week to get your games, you can get most brand new games for half the price you pay at the store. I won't link the site because it might count as advertisement and I do not wish to anger the mods, but if you google it it's the first link. A lot of older titles are going for brand new at around $20 even. I don't often buy from a storefront anymore unless I'm absolutely DESPERATE to get it on day 1.
Also, I don't think EB's ever really ripped me off blindly, they are a business and they're just doing what they have to do to pay their employee's wages.

I dunno where your EB is but my EB does not price match and they don't give a flying crap. Btdubs, EB IS GAMESTOP. For all those who didn't notice.

I buy games at EB Games because the local one has never done anything wrong to me. However, I'll always buy used games at the local used shop due to lower prices and wider variety.
