Neither. I hate social networking (and here comes the trolls arguing that I'm commenting on a 'social networking site'), the real/only reason I have an Escapist account is because of the interactive forums that allow me to express my personal opinion and then have it reviewed by other members of this site; not just friends who I already know share my same points of view. Given that the responses to some of my opinions on this site may not be fully 'intelligent', that fact that I can have supportive and contrasting points helps me become a more elaborate thinker.
What happen to the basic use of a phone now-a-days if you don't mind me changing the subject. Why must we only contact people over Facebook or find out what someone is doing over Twitter, or even know what their musical taste is over Myspace?
Last night I was hanging out with a friend (person to person hanging out too!) and we joked about how there are so many apps for his iPhone that allow him to go on Facebook, World of Warcraft/Battlenet account, Twitter, iTunes store, ect. but how he can't make a phone call.
I can't argue against technology, because I would be a hypocrite, and I am already counting in my head the many upon many troll comments I am going to get with this statement (which will only prove my earlier point), so all I can say is that technology is a double edged sword. Yes, it has helped us communicate with others quicker and somewhat more efficiently, but the lack of social (and I mean physical) communication will harm us in the near future.
But I guess the main reason why I hate localized social networking sites (sites like Facebook that have you in the regional demographic as your friends and neighbors) is because of the amount of drama that can/will escalate due to some idiotic reason.
... But what do I know, I'm posting this on a forum and not in a New York Bestseller Sociology book xP
