I'm getting twords the end of the game, but I'm still deciding how to deal with the Master. What do you think I should do Escapist?

I can:
A. Set the nuke off thats on level 4 of the Cathedral.
B. Shoot the Master, plain and simple.
C. Talk the Master out of his plans.

Your poll seems biased... but I just set off the nuke (mainly because I was way too under-leveled to take on the master).

The Master is almost impossible to take head-on - get a StealthBoy and get down there. Make sure you have the nuke key from the military base though - I'm not sure if you can activate it otherwise.

You can hack into it.

NOT CANON, ZOMG.
What IS the canon death for The Master? I remember that in the illustration for The Vault Dwellers memoirs, it shows him shooting at The Master, so I assume he took him out by force

Im pretty sure talking the master out of his plans are next to impossible. You need both high speech and Charisma, and you also need the data on the Supermutant dissection.

Since the Master is fucking hard to kill and infinitly spawning Super Mutants keep wandering into the room during the fight, I'd suggest just nuking his ass!.

All that's canon as far as I know is the cathedral being nuked, and you killing the overseer.
Well, the cathedral is nuked no matter what you do, and actually, killing the Overseer only happens with bad karma or the Bloody Mess trait. Canonically, the Overseer was executed by the remaining inhabitants of Vault 13 years later, after they figured out what he had been doing, in collaboration with the Enclave

It pretty much depends on your stats, talking him out of it isn't that bad if you've been playing a largely social path for the entire game and pumping up those skills, but yes it DOES mean doing the other part of the endgame first.

I think they mix up the images of what could have happened, and there really isn't a true "Fallout Canon" between part 1 and part 2. Everything is left open to what you may or may not have done playing the game. The only things that do not change seem to be the events you have no influance over.

The Master is a really hard boss. Go for the nuke.

turbo plasma, fast trigger, bonus move and 8 or 9 agility

Stay in the corner between the pillar and the entrance to the overseers chamber and shoot all the the master's reinforcements till they dry up.
Then you can deal with him.

Method: get from behind the pillar and shoot the master and retreat back behind the pillar. Repeat until he's dead.
You'll want skill in energy weapons to exceed 150 or this will take very long.

With the correct build, the master is very easy.

What you need are MENTATS!

Brain not pulling it's weight? Down a few of these for a minty burst of thought power! Talk your enemies to death, get the girl of your dreams, solve complex equations! (Warning, side effects include: severe cravings, brain death, diarrhea, blindness, searing rage and other miscellaneous after-effects.)
